The cobwebs are blown off and the girls are ready to go against Derby Women’s Rugby this weekend. As we know last season the Bourns were triumphant away at Derby's ground, so with recent training stepping up a notch this should be a game to watch.

SATURDAY 26TH SEPTEMBER - 1XV RETURN TO THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY

Home comforts this weekend as the 1XV welcome to Avery Fields. After last weekend's battle, the boys will look forward to getting back on the AGP, with strong home support giving them the extra drive over the whitewash.

Only one place separates the two sides, so whoever wins here will move up the table and create space from the danger zone.

Today, U11S lead coach James Rees welcomed Women's 1XV players Sus and Naomi, along with Girls section coach and Women's player Abi, to assist with all contact-related activities, including fun drills leading into tackle practice.

This forms part of the club's commitment to coach and player development, providing our young players with more role models in the sport while supporting our coaches. It allows for the demonstration of drills and the identification of useful tips and tricks in smaller, more manageable groups.

1XV SECURE A TRY BONUS POINT ON THE ROAD

Despite getting the first score in just a blink of an eye, proved their class today. Moments of magic from the choccos were undermined by errors and technical yellows.

Time to regroup, work out the kinks, get squeaky clean and go again to protect the fortress as the boys welcome Cinderford to Avery Fields next weekend. This also marks the start of league action for our Women, Blues & 3XV.

3XV PICK UP LAST-MINUTE FRIENDLY

Following the RFU's decision to delay the leagues, the 3XV found themselves with a free weekend and nothing to do. So they secured a last-minute friendly this Saturday as they travel over to see 2s.

24 of the boys have escaped the house and are ready to get some rugby under their belts ahead of the new season.

So if you aren't up for travelling to Hinckley, but fancy some rugby a little closer to home... follow the 3s as they put their pre-season into practice.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN - HERE'S HOW THE 1XV LINE-UP 🍫

Wing Cam Smith will start for Bournville in Saturday’s National Two West match at Hinckley Rugby Football Club in the only change to the side which beat Lymm last week.

Smith was named in the starting line-up last week, but his delayed arrival at Avery Fields forced a late reshuffle, with Will Tanner promoted from the bench and Smith moved to a replacement role.

Tanner scored the first of Bourns’ six tries and has retained his place against Hinckley but switches to his more familiar position of centre to partner Sam Grimshaw. The pair were North Midlands’ centre pairing in their County Championship Division Two winning campaign last season.

Smith, who scored a try when he came off the bench in the second half against Lymm, starts on the left wing with Sam Peppitt switching to the right in the other positional change as Bourns stick with a winning side.

Oscar Fawkes-Underwood, who started at full-back for the Blues against Silhillians last week, returns to the first team squad as a replacement, with ho**er James Randall appearing on a Bourns’ team sheet for the first time since December 2022.

Randall scored three tries in his first four appearances at the end of the 2021/22 season and has spent the past two seasons with Birmingham Moseley. The former Hartpury University player is back with Bourns on a loan arrangement, along with Peppitt and scrum-half Reiss Price.

Another big chance this weekend to show what we're made of. Go well lads 🍫
