Every child in Birmingham has a fundamental right to move and play ๐คธ
Today for , weโre highlighting how crucial play is for a young personโs mental wellbeing, and physical health.
By embedding opportunities to play into our schools, parks, and community hubs, we are working across the city to ensure equitable physical activity opportunities for the next generation. Let's make sure every child in Brum gets the active start they deserve.

Have you heard about Play Their Way?
Play Their Way is a UK movement that promotes child-first coaching in sport and physical activity. Led by the Childrenโs Coaching Collaborative, it helps coaches put childrenโs voice, choice and journey at the centre of their experience. The approach encourages young people to have a say in how they participate, make choices about their activities, and develop in ways that suit them as individuals. Its goal is to make sport more enjoyable, inclusive and empowering, helping children build a lifelong love of being active.

Not even the British weather could put a damper on the spirit of Girls of Brum! โ
Last week, we welcomed hundreds of girls from across Birmingham to the Alexander Stadium (Serco Leisure) for our Summer Showcase. It was an incredible day filled with new activities and sports, new friendships, and endless inspiration. A huge well done to all the schools who brought such amazing energy and didn't let the rain stop the fun!
A massive thank you to everyone who made the day possible:
๐ Our Deliverers: Thank you for providing unforgettable experiences and being so adaptable with our weather-related changes!
๐ Our Keynote Speaker: For the second year running, thank you Karenjeet Kaur Bains ACA for sharing your story and being such a powerful role model. She spoke alongside Eloquent Dance who gave an exhilarating performance - what an opening ceremony!
๐ Our Volunteers & Young Leaders: We couldn't have done this without the incredible support from Sport 4 Life UK University College Birmingham, Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College, South & City College Birmingham, InUnity, Serco Leisure Severn Trent and Selfridges!
๐ Our Supporters: We are extremely grateful to companies who supported the day and our vision with their generosity - Pure Gym, Fab Little Bag, JOMA Connect Padel Birmingham Severn Trent Vivify Venues, Serco Leisure Hollywood Bowl Birmingham Broadway Plaza.
Finally, a huge shoutout to the Sport Birmingham team. The elements certainly tested us, but hard work and determination made the day a roaring success!
