Great to be here in Lausanne, Switzerland, for the inaugural Lausanne Grand Slam and Adapted Judo event! π¨ππ₯
One of the best parts of traveling the judo circuit is catching up with old friends. Great to see judo champion Varlam Liparteliani and Larisa Kiss, Head of IJF International Relations, here in Lausanne.
A lot of years, competitions, and great memories in this sport. Always good to reconnect! π

This man needs no introduction. π¬πͺ
Lasha Shavdatuashvili. Olympic Champion in 2012. Bronze in 2016. Silver in 2020. World Champion in 2021.
And at 34 years old, heβs still competing and winning at the highest level, adding another European title this year in the -73kg category.
One of the most consistent competitors of this generation and always a pleasure to watch.
Good luck at Worlds, Lasha! ππ₯

Judo Family,
One of our own needs our help.
Meghan Barnett is the daughter of Szandra Szogedi OLY, a Rio 2016 Olympian who now works with the European Judo Union. Meghan is living with cerebral palsy, drug-resistant epilepsy, and complex medical needs. Her family is raising funds to give her access to vital treatments and intensive therapies that they hope can improve her quality of life and give her the best possible chance moving forward.
Iβm asking everyone in our judo community, from athletes and coaches to clubs, federations, brands and fans around the world, to help us rally around Meghan and her family.
Please donate if you can. If you canβt, please share her story. Every share can help us reach someone new.
We always talk about the values of judo: respect, friendship, courage and helping one another. This is our opportunity to live those values.
Letβs show Meghan and her family just how big and powerful the judo family really is. πͺβ€οΈ
