TONIGHT we meet August's Full Moon 🌕 known as the sturgeon moon, due to an abundance this large, strong fish currently populating the fresh waters of the world.

The sturgeon is one of the longest living fish and a very self protective, resourceful creature, with built-in defence mechanisms to shield them from harm, symbolic of survival, resilience, longevity and empowerment.

And perhaps there is something in that symbolism for us. A reminder that strength isn't only about what we can endure, but also about how well we care for ourselves along the way.

So often, self-care is treated as something indulgent or something we do when everything else is taken care of. But what if we began to see caring for ourselves as an investment? In our health, energy, resilience and the life we want to live not just today, but for many years to come. Our yoga practice offers us a place to embody and explore this, and perhaps is one of your self care tools.

In yoga, we build strength, but we also learn when to soften. We challenge ourselves, but we also learn to listen. We nourish the body, settle the nervous system and cultivate an awareness of what we truly need in the moment. Not pushing ourselves to become stronger at all costs, but developing the wisdom to know what supports and sustains us.

Can you approach your practice with the sole intention of investing in your physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing? Can meet yourself with care, choosing nourishment over depletion? Can you honour your body's needs rather than overriding them?
Swimming through your practice with the knowledge that yoga itself is a lifelong journey worth investing in, and that you, just like the moon are changing with every moment.

Allow this same awareness and grace to float with you off your mat into your daily life. Allowing self care to guide how you rest, eat, move, the boundaries you create, things you say yes and no to, and the time you give yourself to simply be.

A little introduction for those of you who are new here 👋🏻

Hello! I’m Claire... yoga teacher, soundbath practitioner, women's circle facilitator and proud owner of Luna Moss Studio.

I created Luna moss as a space to share some of the things I’m most passionate about... movement, rest, reflection, connection and our relationship with the natural world around us.

Inspired by nature, the changing seasons and the cycles of the moon, everything I create is an invitation to pause for a while and reconnect with yourself, others and the rhythms of life.

Whether you're here for yoga, sound, women's circles, retreats or simply a little inspiration along the way, I'm so glad you found my little corner of the web 🤍

There is something I will never take for granted about being trusted with people’s stories, their tenderness, their wholeness, their rawness and their complete humanness.

What an honour it is to hold space for it all 🤍

As we journey through late summer, we align with the energy of the earth element. An energy of grounding, stability, nourishment and support, inviting us to slow down and savour.

The height and intensity of summer begins to soften. The fruits of the season are ripening, the earth is abundant, and nature begins to turn towards gathering, nourishing and preparing for what comes next. And perhaps we can lean into this wisdom.

We live in a world that often encourages us to keep moving, achieving,  producing, or reaching the next thing. But in this world of constant change, earth is stability, reminding us that growth doesn’t always have to be active. Sometimes things need time to ripen. Sometimes we need to pause long enough to receive the nourishment that allows us to keep growing.

You can embody this earth energy in your yoga practice. Finding a supportive sense of rooting down before you rise, creating stability before you move, and allowing the support of the earth to encourage slowness, savouring and the ripening of sensation.

Allow yourself to lean into the realisation that you are supported by your body, by your practice. And perhaps this can lay the foundation for how you move through your daily life by leaning into what supports, anchors and nourishes you. What brings you home to yourself.

Take a moment to consider what your foundations are. The people, places, practices or simple rituals that help you feel steady and grounded. What alleviates anxiety and worry. What truly nourishes you.

How can you support yourself in bringing more of this into your life?
