This is according to whom we recently had the pleasure of welcoming to Xcelerate with Edgbaston, to share insights into the zero waste initiatives behind Silo London. 

Douglas, award-winning chef and founder of Silo London, a restaurant renowned for operating without a bin, is helping to challenge the way the hospitality industry thinks about waste. He also appeared as a guest judge for the Zero Waste Challenge at this year’s Chef of the Year competition, demostrating how bold ideas and innovation can drive meaningful change for the future.

Those principles were brought to life as we welcomed the ACT Sustainability Academy to for their latest sustainability event, delivered in collaboration with and , bringing together colleagues committed to building a more sustainable future.

From thought provoking discussions to practical insights, the day highlighted the power of collaboration in driving meaningful change across our industry. As part of Compass Group UK & Ireland’s commitment to sustainability, events like these help inspire new thinking, share best practice, and empower people to turn ambition into action.

Sustainability is not the responsibility of a few. It is a journey we all take together.

We were proud to host the launch of Barchester Healthcare and HIT Training’s new apprenticeship programme at Xcelerate with Edgbaston - an event that was nothing short of inspiring.

It was particularly meaningful to see two of our longstanding partners come together with a shared ambition to raise standards across the hospitality sector. With an exceptional guest list featuring Chief Operations Officer of Barchester Healthcare Natasha Lazovic, and with a cohort of more than 50 individuals about to begin their journey, the room was alive with energy, ambition, and a real sense of purpose.
