šŸ Gameweek 11/12th July šŸ

Heading into the latter third of the season, with plenty to play for, here are your 7 Walmley Senior Sides are ready to deliver for the weekend ahead!

Jonathan Newis’s 1st XI host Solihull Blossomfield at Eldon Drive, and will want a similar result the last time they played the visitors. The 1s will have Max Southgate and Rehan Chishti back in the lineup, while Arman Dubb plays his first 1s game of the season. In the reverse fixture, Jonathan Newis (67), Lewis Hoffman (52 and 4-34), Max Southgate (3-6) and Aaron Thomason (3-29) did the business last time out, so let’s hope they get the win again - all before the England game too!

Louis Chaundy’s 2nd XI make the trip to Stratford-upon-Avon, and will have David Clough back in the side alongside Ben Pyke. Nathan Varghese also earns a call up to the 2s! The two teams played out a tied game last time, with Usman Zia (62) and George Wyatt (54) leading the way with the bat. The 2s will want to go one step further as they try and keep their promotion hopes alive!

Michael Shackleford’s 3rd XI host Olton and West Warwicks at Spring Lane, and have young guns Sebby Armstrong, Kanav Biswas, and Yash Parik back in the side. Haroon Irshad also drops down from the 2s to complete the 3rd XI. It was a losing draw between the two sides last time out thanks to a fighting Nathan Varghese 80(139) and a swashbuckling 62 from Puru Parik, but we’re hoping the 3s can deliver a win this time!

Mohammed Ali’s 4th XI travel to the Centenary Ground where they will face Moseley Ashfield. Vishal Srinivasan and Purushottam Parik bolster the 4s, bringing their experience from the 3s to a big game. Last time out, it was a tied game, as Muhammad Waqas (108) will hope to replicate his century against the same opposition! A win would give the 4s much needed momentum to get away from the relegation battle!

Darryl Robinson’s 5th XI will also be at Spring Lane, as they visit Erdington on the top pitch. As there was no 5th team game last week, the 5s have been training hard and are ready for their contest, hoping to avoid a similar result that happened the last time they played Erdington and get a win!

Amaan Nasar’s Sunday 1st XI travel to the Scorers to play Shirley. Jabbran Hussain, Bryan Mudalige, and Jonathan Newis come into the side. Louis Chaundy plays his first Sunday game of the season, and will keep! Despite a loss against Shirley early on this season (Jonathan Newis scoring 68, and David Hatherley taking 3-46), the Sunday 1s are ready to go again!

Julian Dexter’s Sunday 2nd XI host Knowle Village at Eldon Drive. A plethora of changes include the Hashmis (Ali and Sajjad), Dylan Ingley, Imran Jabarkhel, and Ali Bilal Mehdi - Noor Ullah makes his debut. Last time out, a 7 wicket win was large in part to Usmaan Khan’s hattrick (3-8), Jabbran Hussain (3-23) and Ali Mohsin Hashmi’s unbeaten 50, can the 2s do the double?

7 Games, 7 Chances to Win, and many opportunities in all those games to make magical moments for all involved!

Up the Wammers!

Your Weekly Honours Board from this gameweek!

Lewis Hoffman tops the run scoring list this week, with the returning Sufyan Zia comfortably making it to the top of the bowling honours.

Lewis Hoffman came to the crease when Walmley were at a perilous 35-4 chasing 331. Lewis counter attacked the Pickwick bowlers to make 86(61). He unfortunately fell 14 runs shy of what would be his maiden hundred, but we know that’ll come very soon if he continues to play like this!

Sufyan Zia returned for his first game of the season, and to no one’s surprise he made a huge impact - by taking 6-16 at the back end of the Sutton Coldfield innings, and that bowling performance proved vital in the 3rd XIs victory against our local rivals. We can’t wait to see when Sufyan also delivers with the bat!
