Lower sessions are still my favourite sessions 🫡

I know it’s more common for people to avoid them or just get a pump, but for me they’re the sessions I look forward to most.

There’s something about pushing a lower session to the limit.
No shortcuts, just getting your head down and putting the work in.

That’s what I love about bodybuilding.
It’s cliche but it is you versus you every single session, always chasing that little bit more.

Today’s line-up:

• Lying leg curls
• Leg extensions (strapped in with the Ben @ GymPin belt game changer )
• Leg press with a super ROM
• Belt RDLs
• Glute-focused split squats 💀
• Glute drive

Every movement has intent.
Every set is there for a reason.
Aiming for quality reps, controlled ex*****on, and taking myself close if not till muscular failure.

Because if you lean into the sessions most people don’t want to do, you’re already moving in the right direction. 👊

🚨 Stop trying to fix what isn’t broken.

One of the biggest mistakes I see people make is constantly changing their training because they saw someone on Instagram doing a new “optimal” exercise or a fancy variation.

Just because it’s trending doesn’t mean it’s better.

If your current programme is helping you get stronger, you’re progressing your lifts, and you’re seeing changes in the mirror, why change it?

Building muscle isn’t easy it takes consistency, effort, and patience.
But it also isn’t complicated when you understand the fundamentals. 👇

Progressive overload.
Good exercise selection.
Quality ex*****on.
Recovery.
Repeat.
That’s it.

I’ve been running the majority of these exercises for months, with only small adjustments depending on the equipment available at the gym I’m training in.

The exercises themselves aren’t the magic.
The magic is getting better at them over time.
Stop chasing novelty.
Start chasing progress.
The people who build the best physiques aren’t the ones changing programmes every week they’re the ones who master the basics and stick with them long enough to let them work.

Consistency will always beat complexity. 💪

Make your quarter turns great again 🤝

Bodybuilding shows aren’t won just standing still flexing your biceps

Your quarter turns tell the judges everything they need to know about your physique.

They expose your structure, balance, conditioning, and how well you’ve developed your body from every angle. You can’t hide weaknesses during the transitions.

This clip is from the PCA, where I was lined up against the big boys.
It was a great reminder that posing isn’t just about hitting your best shots t’s about owning every second you’re on stage.

If you’re only practising your mandatory poses and neglecting your quarter turns, you’re leaving points on the table.

Remember: judges are always watching, even between poses.

How often do you actually practise your quarter turns? 👇

POST-PREP IS HARD.

Not just physically but more so mentally. 🧠

After months of eating the same foods, following a strict routine, hitting your steps, doing your cardio, and living in a calorie deficit, your body and mind become conditioned to structure.

Then prep ends.

Suddenly, the reins are off.

You have choice. Freedom. Flexibility.

And while that sounds amazing, it can also be one of the most challenging periods of the entire bodybuilding journey.

For me, post-prep has always been something I’ve had to learn and improve at. I’ve done multiple preps, and in the past I’ve definitely struggled with the transition. The temptation to swing from one extreme to the other is real.

The key is finding a balance.

And the truth is, everyone’s balance looks different.

What matters is avoiding the mindset of “I’ve earned this, so anything goes.” A meal out becomes a day, a day becomes a week, and before you know it, the structure that got you to the stage has completely disappeared.

Freedom is important. So is flexibility.

But so are boundaries.

Keep some structure around your nutrition. Keep showing up to train. Keep moving your body.

Training-wise, me and ALLY J ROSS | ONLINE FITNESS & LIFESTYLE COACH and I have had three great sessions since prep ended.
No strict plan. No pressure. Just turning up, moving some weight, enjoying the process, enjoying each other’s company, and remembering why we love training in the first place.

To anyone finishing a prep right now:

It’s okay if this phase feels difficult.

It’s okay if your body changes.

It’s okay to enjoy a little more food, a little more flexibility, and a little more freedom.

Just don’t let a few days become a few weeks, and a few weeks become a few months.

Set your next goal.
Establish your boundaries.
Bring back some structure.
Then get back to work.

Post-prep isn’t about being perfect.

It’s about finding a sustainable balance between discipline and freedom. 💪
