BRUM BUILDERS with Lord Mayor of Birmingham's Charity

This evening we attended the Lord Mayors Charity Brum Builders networking event to connect with like-minded Brummies and local businesses to understand the level of support offered to Birmingham organisations, how we can help the charity and build of the pride we have in Birmingham.

Our Chair Jeevan met with Lord Mayor Zaker Choudhry, four years on from their last meet and fellow bluenose PJ with some exciting conversations and ideas lined up!

If you want to support, as the Lord Mayor wisely said - Charity Starts At Home!

Another good football session for some of our lads which saw a 16-16 thriller, some immense saves from Jeevan, comical own goals from others and a decisive penalty shoot out!

Most the lads are now off to the pub to cheer on 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Throwback Thursday - Girls of Brum 2026

We were delighted to be an activity delivery partner at last week's event at Alexander Stadium hosted by the team at Sport Birmingham.

Providing sports that can cater to a range of diverse needs, people and ages is something this is not often talked about. Yesterday demonstrated just how we can pull together to inspire our girls to experience and play new sports and mindfulness and wellbeing activities.

The opening ceremony saw Karenjeet Kaur Bains inspire Girls from across Birmingham with her story. In the networking event, Mark Taylor Chair of Sport Birmingham signed the Brighton plus Helsinki 2014 Declaration on Women & Sport.

We engaged with many providers and partners on the day and Karenjeet too as she shared her journey as a Gladiator (we hear she was a pretty good hockey player once upon a time too) Athena The Gladiator

Kudos to the whole Sport Birmingham team for making yet another great event happen.

Thanks to Laurie-Anne Kennedy for helping us yet again!

20k MILESTONE!

Today we attend the Sport Birmingham Girls of Brum event, delivering Hockey to girls to help drive the visibility, accessibility and inclusivity of our sport.

This event is a key moment in our journey as we now hit 20k people that we have engaged in the last 5 years to introduce them to Hockey! From our events at the doorstep of families, to online lessons in Covid, engagement in the community, along canal towpaths, in schools, community events, care homes and hospital wards, we reach a milestone that our sport should be proud of and a reach we believe nobody else has yet achieved in the sports recent history!

Our Chair Dr Jeevan Singh Chagger shared the following in this milestone "What we have achieved in the last 5 years is beyond incredible. It has been no easy journey but it shows to the sport that it is possible. We can increase the visibility, make hockey more accessible and celebrate its inclusivity. This is the start of something special and we have yet another ambitious target on the horizon!"

Join us in recognising the inclusive nature of Hockey and help us to inspire more Hockey Clubs and those at England Hockey to continue its work with hockey clubs to drive this sport further and reach new heights!

20,000 people engaged in 5 years at 43 events. Signposting people to 20 different clubs in 14 countries across 5 continents of the world.

Birmingham Hockey Club 1932 is connecting people with the Hockey World 🙌
