Today Was My Final Day in the NHS.
Today, Friday 11 September, I completed my final working day in the NHS.
It is difficult to summarise what this chapter of my career has meant to me.
The NHS has given me invaluable experience as a physiotherapist, introduced me to some brilliant people and allowed me to support patients during some of the most challenging periods of their lives.
I have learned an enormous amount clinically, professionally and personally.
Iβm particularly proud of the work I have been able to do within Cancer Prehabilitation and of the patients who have shown me just how powerful the right combination of exercise, education, rehabilitation and support can be.
There are patients, colleagues and experiences from this chapter that I will remember for the rest of my career.
Leaving brings mixed emotions, because there is a lot that I will genuinely miss.
But I also know that this is the right time.
For several years I have balanced my NHS career alongside building Teesside Centre of Health and Performance.
On Monday, that changes.
From next week, TCHP has my full-time commitment.
We already have a growing team, a developing specialist Lower Limb service, our new Cancer Prehabilitation and Rehabilitation provision, community physiotherapy and some really exciting plans for the future.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout my time in the NHS.
One chapter ends today.
The next one starts Monday.
And I cannot wait to see where it takes us.
