Euro T20 Slam Weekend!!!

The cricket isn't over yet! This weekend we will be competing in the Euro T20 Slam. Tonight will be our first of three games starting over at Elstow under the floodlights with a 19.30 start. Then tomorrow we will host and play in two more games on The Green! First match to start at 10.30 and the second game to start at 14.30. The bar will be open Saturday from 12.00 with a BBQ later in the day. Come on down and cheer the team on 🌳

Just the one game today. Last game of the season for the Saturday first team. A short trip to local Southill Park will close the season out. The team will be looking to finish on a high. Good luck to the team today 🌳

Congratulations to the Ickwell team for retaining the Allan Theed Memorial Shield! After a rain reduced game to 26 overs Ickwell posted 206-6. In reply Old Warden lost steady wickets to fall short, ending up on 157 all out. A match winning performance with the bat by Steven Proudman earns him the man of the match award with 122 off 69 balls! Up the tree 🌳

The Alan Theed Memorial Shield will still be going ahead today. The game will be 30 overs with a 2pm start. A change of venue too as this match will now be played at Old Warden Cricket Club.

The pavilion will remain open today as planned.

Two games on today, weather permitting!

The first XI take on Hunts & District at home on The Green. With two games left of the season the team will be looking to finish in the top three.

The third XI play their last game as the travel over to Aspley Guise. A win today would also see them finish in the top three.

Match report from yesterday evening's Women's game against Southill at home:

Another close game against Southill with just 5 runs in it, but this time it was in our favour & we followed up on yesterday's win with another at home on The Green! 🏏💪

Ickwell won 173/6 vs. Southill 168/4

Ickwell won the toss & opted to field first.

Emma & Alyce both took a wicket each (lbw) with Becca also taking a wicket (b) and another with a great run out. Southill ended their batting innings with 168/4.

Alyce and Becca were our first pairing in to bat, scoring a credible 22 runs between them. With extras given by Southill but losing 3 wickets our openers ended their 4 overs with a net 28 runs.

Sharon and Davina were next to bat, getting 13 runs between them. With some tidier bowling from our opposition (giving us just 3 extras during the 4 overs) and losing a further 2 wickets, our net score was 34 after 8 overs.

Chloe and Charlotte were up next, and whilst losing a wicket they took some good singles, plus a boundary, to take us to 49.

Last up to bat were Angie & Emma. With a target of 24 runs to find, we played it safe, running most balls & taking easy singles.

We met our target with 3 balls remaining then finished off with another 3 runs (for good measure!) to bring our final score to 173/6.

An enjoyable game & good effort in the field as well as good batting partnerships.

Well done to everyone who played. Everyone contributed to the success and put in a lot of effort throughout. 👏👏

Abbots Langley v Ickwell Ladies 1st XI

Captain's match report

A great game today against the lovely ladies at Abbots Langley, winning 251/6 vs. 98/all out 🎉

Firstly, a massive well done to Eliza who literally smashed the balls out of the park to get 103 runs, including a 6 and 16 4s 🤯

We won the toss & opted to bat first.

Frenchie and Eliza opened and despite losing an early wicket, batters partnered very well to get Eliza back on strike. Alyce and Angie worked well together to see the final overs through, getting 56 runs between them (42 for Alyce & 14 for Ang).

Taking the energy into our fielding innings, we had some fast & economical bowling from the girls and kept the pressure on in the field. Phoebi and Becca took a few wickets early on and Eliza and Laura kept the momentum going by taking 4 between them later on.
With some catches in the field too from Phoebi x 2 (including a c&b), Becca (c&b), Ang & Emma we ended our opposition's innings during the 21st over and 98 runs.

The win today moved us up to 4th in the league table! 🤩

Sunday triple header!

The first XI take on Biddenham at home on the The Green. The team will be looking to get back on track before the close of the season with a win.

The second XI do the short travel to locals Old Warden. After two wins in a row can they make it three?!

The ladies travel away to Abbots Langley. After picking up a win against them the last time the two sides met they will be looking to do the same again.
