The pressure I put on myself to be good at something before I've even started is a bit silly really.

Sometimes we all need a little reminder that being crap at something is a good thing.

I'm just getting started, the journey is ahead!

This is Sally, she has been training with me at JLC since January 2024.

In that time she has become endlessly stronger, fitter and more confident in what her body is capable of.

When we first met, Sally told me she had fused toe joints and couldn't do any exercises where she needs to bend her toes.

She's never been able to do certain things like planks and lunges in the usual way. So we have found alternatives for everything.

Exercise isn't a one size fits all.  And a good coach adapts and find solutions that work with you. Whether it's because of an injury, a limitaion, or simply that your body moves differently.

At a recent review, Sally told me she was pleased with her progress but wanted to push herself more. To see what she is capable of and try the things she had avoided.

So when planks came around in our group sessions, we found a way for her to try them for the first time ever

The look on her face when she achieved something she didn't think possible for her was priceless.

Now she can moan about planks with everyone else 😀

I'm exercising but I've got no idea if I'm doing it right.

My back hurts when I do core stuff.

I can never feel the back exercise in my back, only in my arms.

How much should I be doing?

What weights should I be using?

Training at home with no experience is full of unanswered questions, and for many women that leads to fear.

And fear leads to letting yourself of the hook when it comes to the difficult part.

Which means doing the same things, over and over. And never making real progress.

This is where a coach comes in.

✅️ Knowing the programme
✅️checking the form
✅️making sure you're getting stronger, safely. So you CAN hit the big numbers.

I pressed record to capture Sophie's first attempt at using a 20kg bar and caught an honest conversation about her progress.

This actually started with her saying she's annoyed with me because her arms are getting too muscly for her t shirts 😂.

Some people would easily lift this on their first session, however for Sophie life is a little different.

With Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia and POTS syndrome, her journey was never going to be the same.

It's been full of ups and downs. Energy levels change constantly and if we push too hard she can end up in a wheelchair or in bed for days.

With 2 young children to look after this isn't really an option, and she's here to get stronger, not push to the limit.

I am so incredibly proud of this woman and how far she's come. I'm even more proud to call her a friend.

And the stronger she gets, the better her school run cuddles are so its a win for me too!

The Beauty Cabin has been somewhere I've used personally for many years so I am super proud to share this 🫶
