🎣 WHAT A DAY! The Anglesey Open – Day 2! 🎣
Top day today fishing the 2nd day of the Anglesey Open, hosted by Blufin ! 🙌
Unfortunately, I couldn’t make Day 1 due to family commitments, but Day 2 was absolutely brilliant!
The day started with the breakfast challenge, which was certainly entertaining to watch! 😂 Unfortunately, nobody could beat it, but fair play to everyone who gave it a go!
The stalls and different brands there in support of the event were amazing too. I popped over to the Mustang Survival store to speak with their representative and explain why safety is paramount to me, and especially to the people who follow the channel. I was very kindly gifted a PFD device, which I’m extremely grateful for. Hopefully, it will never have to be deployed! 🤞
🎣 ONTO THE FISHING!
This is where things got interesting… and pretty much broke me and the Menace! 😂
At first, we fancied Doc Bach, but as the morning went on, we changed our minds and decided to try Amlwch Breakwater for a spot of mini fishing.
Upon arrival, there was already a good amount of people enjoying their fishing. The time was now 1:15pm, with the match having started at 1pm! 😬
That left me and the Menace scrambling over the headland looking for a spot. Fast forward another half an hour and we eventually settled on somewhere to fish.
What started off brilliantly for Roger, with a few nice Ballan wrasse falling to a two-hook flapper, left me chasing my own Ballan. It took a while, but I eventually got there! Roger landed a few corkwing wrasse too, but the fishing soon became really tough.
So… the big baits went out in search of a huss, conger or anything else that might fancy a snuffle. A couple of knocks on the rod tip… and that was about it!
With the last hour approaching, we both decided to head further around the headland to a spot I knew would hold a large amount of fish, especially the mini species.
THE MOVE WORKED! 🎣🔥
As soon as the rigs hit the water, the LRF rods were bouncing! We managed to nick a few species each.
RESULT!
🐟 5 SPECIES FOR ME
🐟 6 SPECIES FOR ROGER
And then… THIS IS WHERE IT ALL WENT WRONG! 😂
THE JOURNEY BACK! 🤦♂️
It was like a scene from Brokeback Mountain! 😂
We headed towards the entrance of an abandoned complex, which had already taken us a fair bit of time to reach… only to be greeted by solid locked gates and absolutely no gaps in the fence!
Fast forward another 20 minutes, 2,500 steps, sweat pouring off us and our backs breaking under the weight of the gear, and we eventually found a way out! 😅😅😅
Unfortunately, we didn’t get back in time for our results to be registered. As you can imagine, we were rather late getting back! 🤣
Still, what an absolutely brilliant day.
A massive well done to everyone who fished, especially those who placed on the leaderboard. 👏🎣
And a HUGE thank you to for pulling off such an amazing event. The atmosphere, brands, stalls and fishing made it a cracking day.
WHAT. A. DAY! 🎣🔥

Its been a long few months but the return is imminent! Life got busy, a few things happend aswell as an injury to my wrist but... ill be back soon!
Camera update, ive found it... long story!! But that gives me the incentive to push through and get some content rolling again!
In the mean time, ive been out a few times this past couple of weeks, a session on llandulas beach resulting in a silver eel on a flooding tide but the pinickle moment was yesterday... I ventured down to Blufin for a mooch about in the shop, upon walking through the door a little stand of ugly stik combos caught my eye 👁 I just knew I had to get one! The colour scheme of orange quite suits me as a ginger guy 😂
So of i venture down to the inland sea for a spot of mini fishing and a target species in mind, a GAR!
They've evaded me a couple of times, due to wind and the float not sitting right and flowing in to quickly but yesterday, a trickling wind allowed me to locate the Gar fish... A quick bit of water craft implied and then I seen them... slight ripples and disturbance on the surface... I quickly set up the float rod with a 3ft hook lengh with a hook tipped with a sliver of mackerel... Two casts later over the spot, GAR ON! Happy days!! Cracking little fight from these on a light set up.
Then it was onto christening the GINGER UGGLY STIK... Armed with a 2 hook flapper, bits of rag i set of in search of the minis and to put a bend in the ugly stik. It didnt take long at all before that tip was rattling away then boom... little tom pot followed by numbers of wrasse. What a great way of fishing! A massive thankyou to Jon Ha and Bex for keeping me company that day and capturing the moments, well done on your fish too guys!
I didnt film yesterday because ive only just located my camera but soon, i shall be out and about filming again!
Thank you all for waiting for me patiently, the return is imminent!

THAT'S A BITE! 🎣
The channels very own Bradley Newman has been chasing some bigger po***ck for a few weeks now. One thing about Brad is, he never ever stops! When i first met him a few years back, he was a novice but was always learning and adapting to any situation he faced. Often he would have a blanking session, but that would never knock his determination!
Made up for you Brad, cracking fish indeed and dont ever stop being the southern dangler you are, well done mate! Your angling has come on a long way!
That's a bite! 🎣

Hello to all my faithful subscribers and followers,
I thought I'd take a little time out of my day today to explain my absence from YouTube.
I appreciate that many of you have been patiently waiting for the next video, but as things stand, I've taken a short break from the channel. Life got a bit hectic, and honestly, I just wasn't feeling my best for a while.
The good news is that I'm doing well. I've still been keeping busy behind the scenes, just without the camera. I've treated myself to some time at Bron Eifion Fishing Lakes & Lodges, enjoying a bit of coarse fishing, which is something I've loved since I was 5 years old. It's always been a massive part of my life. I've also managed to squeeze in the odd sea fishing trip too.
I will be back soon, but there are going to be a few changes. I'm taking this time to work on new video ideas and rethink how I make my content. I want to improve things and bring you even better videos moving forward.
I really appreciate all of your support and patience. It won't be much longer, but this break is something I needed.
For now, keep fishing, keep enjoying yourselves, and I'll see you all very soon!
Tight lines,
Mike

🎣 That’s A Bite 🎣
I’ve taken a bit of time away from the cameras lately to enjoy some downtime, but last night I finally got back out where I belong… on the beach with the rods out and a bucket full of crab ready for action! 🦀🔥
Armed with my favourite rig and the Fishing Ferrari — The Oxidiane 3 piece continental — the hounds were definitely out to play!
The session started slow with the fast flooding tide dragging in clumps of w**d every cast, making things frustrating early on. So I sat it out, waited for the tide to settle, and once it did… rigs back in and game on!
It didn’t take long before that Fishing Ferrari rod bent double and the clutch on the Penn started absolutely screaming! 🎶💥
First double-figure fish of the season and what a fish it was — a cracking female smoothhound! 🦈 A few more big girls followed too, all falling to the crab baits.
It honestly felt amazing to be back out there. I always say it… just go fishing, no matter the mood. Recently, I really haven’t felt like fishing at all and couldn’t face it, but last night relit that spark and reminded me exactly why I fell in love with this sport in the first place.
What a night. 🙌
Just go fishing! 🎣
