CPJ Young Runners News & Updates 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Morning All,

Some fine running at Parkruns this week from two of our Young Runners. Congratulations to Jessica who ran Basildon Parkrun on Saturday to finish 2nd female and 45th overall in a field of 244. She returned to Northlands on the Sunday for Junior Parkrun and finished in the top female spot and 4th overall. Hot on her heels, and getting ever closer, was Jake in 5th place. Great running guys, very well done 💪 👍 👏 👌.

Elsewhere, Arron rounded off his throwing season in style at the EYAL Plate Final in Stevenage yesterday. In an incredibly strong field of javelin throwers, he held his nerve to finish in 4th place with a fantastic new PB by just over 1 metre of 35.83. He followed this up with an emphatic win in the shot put 🥇, equalling his PB distance from last week of 9.36. Congratulations Arron, a great end to the season 👊🙌👏👏.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 8th September we are at JOHN BURROWS, 6pm - 7pm, £2 for the session or week. We will continue with our outdoor venues until we run out of light at the end of September, before moving indoors for our circuit and strength training sessions over the autumn/winter months. Venue TBC but hopefully Richmond Hall, Benfleet.

This Saturday 12th September, Waterside Track, 10am - 11am, £2 for the session unless paid Tuesday. We will continue to meet at Waterside until the end of September before moving to our autumn/winter cross country training venues. PLEASE NOTE that our session on Saturday 3rd October will be at Thorney Bay Beach Parkrun - 2nd attempt 🙏🤞.

Bank Holiday Monday Results 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

A great day was had by all and we hope our Young Runners enjoyed the day, they certainly did themselves and the club proud. We also had two older ex members, who Terry & I coached from when they were 8 years old, join our little team, which was really special. I'd like to see the final medal table, as I think for a smaller, non athletic club, we smashed it 💪 👍 👏 👌 🙌 🫶.

First up was Corban in the 800m who ran a superb race to finish just outside of his best time in 2.17.
Arron and our first ex member Liam were next up to throw the shot put. Liam threw 9.42 and Arron increased his PB by a whopping 3 metres to throw 9.37. Whilst the lads were in action Maia was throwing the turbo javelin and picked up our first medal of the day, finishing in 3rd place 🥉 with a throw of 9.69. She was closely followed by Jake who threw 12.99 in his own turbo javelin competition.

Performances were coming in thick and fast as Owen was next up on the track. He stormed down the finish straight to a 4th place in the 50m, in a cracking time of 9.51. Liam was back in action, and our only jumper of the day in the High Jump where he cleared just short of his PB, a height of 1.70. Before lunch we picked up 2 more medals with Owen throwing the howler to a massive distance of 32.05 to secure a silver medal 🥈. Yours truly attempted a few shot puts to regain my gold medal title in the old lady category🥇.

After lunch, action was back on the track with Jake in the 600m who ran his socks off to our 2nd big PB of the day, knocking 10 seconds off his best time to run 2.05. Next up the 400m and a brave run from Maia saw her achieve another huge PB of 13 seconds to run 1.33. Also running the 400m was Millie, our 2nd returnee for the day, in the WU20 race. A stonking run and another new PB gained Millie our 2nd gold of the day 🥇.

Terry then took to the track to run his 1500m. Showing how it's done, he ran 15 seconds quicker than he predicted he would, in 5.14, finishing in 1st place and our 3rd gold of the day 🥇. Our duo of Arron & Liam were next up in the discus, where Liam threw a smidgeon more than Arron again at 29.81 to recieve a bronze medal 🥉. Jake then rounded off his day in the 150m, running a creditable 24.96. To finish the day off, in the final event of the day, (they'd closed the toilets by now 😆), yours truly flipped the discus enough to nab us our 4th top spot and gold of the day 🥇.

All in all, not a bad day in the office and not only superb performances from the whole gang but huge praise and thanks to everyone for cheering and supporting each other on throughout the day. Well done Team CPJ Young Runners, top drawer stuff. Be proud 👏👏👌👌👍👍🫶🫶💙🤍

CPJ Young Runners News & Updates 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

We hope everyone has had a superb summer's break. Back to a bit of normality this week. All our best wishes to our Young Runners on their returns to school, especially Ivy, who starts her sixth form journey at SEEVIC and James U and Noah who start at their new secondary schools. You've got this guys and girls🍀🍀.

I will report on yesterday's brilliant achievements a bit later in the week. For now, I'll concentrate on our 4 Parkrun results from Saturday & Sunday.
Many from our adult club attended Basildon Parkrun on Saturday to celebrate one of our members, Bert turning 90......yes that's 90 and still running Parkruns 😮🥳. A huge well done to Jessica who stormed home in 29th place and 6th female and Jake who finished in 53rd place, from a field of 205. Great running guys 👌💪👏👏.

Sunday saw just the male contingent of Team Unett run at Northlands. Congratulations to James, who placed 6th and Harry who placed 12th out of 61 finishers. Well done lads 🙌👍👏👏.

**IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT**: Entries for this year's Essex X/c League are now open. Years 5 & 6 will race as U12s and Years 7 & 8 as U14s. Please, please let me know as soon as possible if your child wishes to do ANY of the races, as I will enter them at the start of the season. Any questions, then please shout.

Today, Tuesday 1st September we are back at WATERSIDE TRACK, 6pm - 7pm, £2 for the session or week.

Good luck to everyone competing at the Southend Open Comp tomorrow. Don't forget to arrive in plenty of time to get your number (parking is not the best), your club colours, a picnic and chairs.
We'll be there from 9am and will likely set up camp on the first bend behind the high jump mat and discus cage.

Sadly, no Thorney Bay Beach parkrun on Saturday but that didn't stop our intrepid parkrunners from venturing elsewhere. Congrats to Jessica who was a first timer at Southend and bagged herself the 3rd female spot, and 43rd overall out of 286 runners. Well done also to James who was returning to Southend and Harry who was a first timer also.
Ben visited our other local 'S' - South Woodham Ferrers and ran himself to a shiny new course PB finishing 23rd overall out of 109 runners. Great running gang 👌 👏 💪 👍 🙌.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 25th August we are back at JOHN BURROWS, 6pm - 7pm, £2 for the session or week.

This Saturday 29th August, Waterside Track, 10am - 11am, £2 for the session unless paid Tuesday.

CPJ Young Runners News & Updates 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

We hope everyone is enjoying their summers break 😎🌞⛱️

Some great results this week despite the holidays. Huge congrats to Jessica who ran the 5k Crown - Crown race on Wednesday evening. Finishing in a superb sub 25 minute time and 2nd junior girl in 29th place out of a field of 91 runners. After 5 events with 1 to go, she is currently standing in the lead on the Champion of Champions 🏆 league table. Great running Jessica 🏃‍♀️ 💪👍👏👏.

Sunday saw Arron competing at Bedford in the Eastern Young Athletes League. A javelin throw just 9cm short of his best, secured him a 1st place and a big PB in the discus by over 2 metres had him finish in 2nd place. One of those rare days where it all just goes exactly to plan. Well done Arron, some brilliant throwing 😊👌👍👏👏.

Just a trio of Unett's rather than a quartet for our parkrunning this week at Northlands on Sunday. Very well done to Jessica who placed 3rd overall but still 1st female, Harry in 13th place and Chloe in 49th out of 71 runners. Well done gang 💪🫶👏👏.

This evening, Tuesday 18th August we are back at Waterside, 6pm - 7pm, £2 for the session.

This Saturday 22nd August, we will be doing Thorney Bay Beach Parkrun instead of our normal training. We haven't been here before, so it will be a course PB for everyone and a good indication of where our fitness is at. The course is out and back along Canvey sea wall, so as flat as it can get. 9am prompt start. DON'T FORGET YOUR BARCODES & CLUB KIT/COLOURS. Parking is chargeable unless you park on the residential roads. It's a lovely course, even if you want to walk parents with toilets and a cafe for refreshments 😊👍.

CPJ Young Runners News & Updates 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

We hope everyone is enjoying their summers break 😎🌞⛱️

Parkrunning galore this weekend mainly from Team Unett on their holidays in Devon, with 8 out of our 11 runs. I'm so tempted to call them the Brady Bunch, but sadly, the majority of our parents weren't even born when they were on the telly! 😬.

Congratulations to another of our siblings, Harry C and Jess who stormed their way round Chalkwell PR on Saturday with Harry finishing 100th and Jess 39th female in a packed field of 583. Way down south west in Devon at Haldon Forest PR, Team Unett were first timers showing the field of 212 how the CPJ youngsters do it.

Yesterday, we had Jake flying the flag on home soil at Northlands, finishing in a creditable 3rd place and 2nd male. Meanwhile, Team Unett were out doing their first timers thing again at CCA Fields Junior PR. A huge Sunday field of 102 runners saw Jessica finish first for the U's in 13th place, followed by a strong James, Harry and Chloe. Great running 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️ over the weekend from you all, very well done guys 👌👍👏👏.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 11th August, there is NO training due to holidays. We will resume next week, Tuesday 18th August at Waterside.

The holidays don't stop our intrepid parkrunners!! Congratulations to Ben who was a first timer whilst on holiday at Rothay Park Parkrun in The Lake District, on Saturday.
It took a bus load of whippets all running PBs to push our Jessica into 7th place and 2nd female, Jake was close behind in 9th, clocking his 130th junior parkrun. Next up was Harry in 14th with a shiny new PB ✨️, James in 17th and Chloe 49th out of 73 finishers.
Great running from you all guys 💪👌👏👏.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 4th August, there is NO training due to holidays. Please note that there will be NO session next Tuesday the 11th also. We resume on Tuesday 18th August at Waterside.

Just the girls flying the flag for us at Northlands Junior Parkrun yesterday. Congratulations to Jessica, who was 4th overall, gaining top female spot again and Chloe who was 37th overall and 9th female in a field of 68 runners. Well done girls 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️👍👌🫶🫶.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 28th July, JOHN BURROWS, 6pm - 7pm, £2 for the session or week. A reminder to our A13 attendees that the London Road between Sadlers and Tarpots is shut. Please note that there will be NO session next Tuesday the 4th and the following Tuesday 11th August, as we are away. We resume on Tuesday 18th August at Waterside.
