We’re also delighted to announce that Peadar Sheridan, Christopher Allsop, Grace Looney, Anjali Singh and Niamh Mason have all been selected as part of the squad travelling on Wednesday morning.

A big thanks to Adam for coordinating, alongside Christopher and Peadar, who represented the club brilliantly and helped make the table tennis showcase a real success.
Massive thanks also to Bei who plays in our club and Mr Li, Consul General, for the kind invite. This follows Gervis’ recent visit to the Consulate, where some very exciting discussions began around how Ormeau and the Chinese Consulate General can work together in the future.

Club Team Championships – Finals Night Summary 🏓
After 40 matches across three nights, we crowned our 2026 Club Team Champions — and what a brilliant week of table tennis it has been!
In the Open Team Event, this year’s champions are Mavericks (Adam, Sebastian & Sadish) — who finished the event in style with a 3-0 win in the final over Rebels (Junior, Jeff H. & Bei). Well done guys! 🏆
The semi-finals were much tighter, with both matches going all the way to the deciding fifth match. Rebels beat Cyclones — (Conor, Lewis & Frank) 3-2, with Jeff H coming good at the right time, winning both his singles and doubles with Junior.
In the other semi-final, Mavericks beat Aces (Peadar, John & Gosia) 3-2. Sebastian was fantastic, winning both his singles and doubles with Adam, while Adam also put two big points on the board.
The Open event was a brilliant mix of A, B and C players from across all our weekly sessions — exactly what this team format is all about! 👏
We also had the Masters Final, with Strikers (Breandan, Paul & Frank) winning 3-2 against Panthers (Jeff, John and Kyle). This one also came down to the deciding match, with Breandan and Paul beating Jeff and John 2-0 in the final doubles. Massive well done to Breandan, who won all three of his matches to help Strikers lift the Masters Team title! 🏆
In the Junior Team Event, Bullets (Christopher & Tsubasa) beat Troopers (Karsten & Charlie F) 2-1 in the semi-final, with Christopher winning both his singles and doubles.
The Blazers (Peadar & Vincent) — were already waiting in the final, and they continued their brilliant run with a 2-0 win over Bullets to become this year’s Junior Team Champions! 🏆
A special mention to Vincent, who was fantastic throughout the Junior Team Championships and was awarded Player of the Tournament 👏
In the Junior Consolation, Quest (Anjali & Yanis) beat Dynamo (Niamh & James) in the semi-final. In the final, Forge (Aditya & Sophie) won 3-0 against Quest to take the consolation title.
A massive thank you to everyone who played, supported and helped make it such a great week. Also, big thanks to all the young players who brought snacks and drinks each night — it made the event even better 🏓

Open Team Championships Delivers Drama, Deciders & a One-Set Shootout! 🏓🔥
Last night we had our second night of the Ormeau Club Team Championships, with the Open Division taking centre stage.
This event is open to players of all ages and levels, with each team made up of an A, B and C player. Matches are played over five ties — three singles and two doubles — creating one of the most exciting and balanced team formats in the club calendar.
Twelve teams started the night, with six group winners booking their places in the knockout stages: Rebels, Rockets, Cyclones, Aces, Comets and Mavericks.
We also had two lucky loser spots up for grabs, based on the best sets for and against averages. Phantoms progressed as the outright lucky loser, but the drama really kicked in when Blitz and Titans finished exactly level. That meant only one thing — a one-set shootout between the two captains!
In front of a buzzing club, Euan and Anjali battled it out in a sudden-death decider, with Anjali edging it 11-9 to send Blitz through. A brilliant moment and a great example of what makes this event so special.
The quarter-finals then brought plenty more drama.
Rebels edged past Blitz 3-2, with Jeff Harrison producing a big performance, winning both his singles and doubles. Junior also stepped up with a key singles win over Anjali to help Rebels book their semi-final place.
Cyclones defeated Rockets 3-1, with Conor in superb form, winning both singles and doubles. Frank also delivered for the Cyclones, picking up wins in both his singles and doubles to help his team move through strongly.
Aces beat Comets 3-1, with Peadar leading from the front, winning his singles and doubles alongside Gosia. One of the standout matches of the night came from Gosia, who had a brilliant five-set win against Ian — a proper battle and a great result under pressure.
The final quarter-final was another tense one, going all the way to the decider, with Mavericks beating Phantoms 3-2. Adam was great, winning all three of his matches — two singles and one doubles — while Sebastian also played a huge role, winning both his singles and doubles.
That sets up two fantastic semi-finals tonight:
🏓 Rebels v Cyclones
🏓 Aces v Mavericks
The consolation event also had plenty of great table tennis, with Vipers beating Titans 3-1 in the semi-final and Legends edging Warriors 3-2 in another match that went all the way to the decider.
In the consolation final, Vipers — Toby, Danny and Andrew — came out on top against Legends — Jack, Breandan and Paul — to take the win. Well done lads!
A massive well done to every player involved. The Open Team Championships really shows what Ormeau is all about — juniors and seniors, experienced players and developing players, all mixing together, competing hard and supporting each other.
Tonight we finish with finals across the Open, Junior and Masters events — it should be a brilliant final night of play at the club 🏓

Little Wing Pizzeria Junior League 2026 – A Flying Start!
What a brilliant start to our Little Wing Junior League 2026! After a later launch than planned, we're absolutely thrilled to report that the first two rounds are complete, and the competition is heating up 🏓
The League
Sixteen NextGen players across eight teams have battled through four rounds of Davis Cup-style table tennis, and the standard has been great. We've got six Ormeau teams – all cheekily named after Little Wing's finest pizzas: ANCHOVIE, MARGHERITA, PICCANTE, POLLO, TUSCAN, and GIARDINO – plus we're delighted to welcome two brilliant teams from Kingsland: Double J and The Kingsland Duo.
The format keeps things exciting: Player A faces Player A, Player B meets Player B, followed by a doubles rubber. Teams earn 3 points for a win and 1 for a loss, with bonus points up for grabs (1 point per singles win, 2 for the doubles).
Current Standings
Team Leaders:
Ormeau ANCHOVIE (Tobias & Yara) are flying high at the top with 27 points from a perfect record of 4 wins, with Ormeau MARGHERITA (Vincent & Isaac) chasing hard in second place on 19 points. Double J Kingsland (James & Joseph) are holding third with 17 points, whilst Ormeau PICCANTE, POLLO, and TUSCAN are all locked together on 16 points each.
Individual Stars:
Three players are sitting top with unbeaten records and maximum 20 points: Charlie Murray (Ormeau POLLO), Tobias Gal (Ormeau ANCHOVIE), and Yanis Xyntaris (Ormeau PICCANTE) – all sporting flawless 100% win rates. Just behind them, James Brookfield, Yara Elhusein, Vincent Darragh, and Yassmeen Elhusein are all performing brilliantly on 15 points with 75% win rates.
Special Thanks
A massive shout-out to Euan Hanna and Peadar Sheridan, who've done an outstanding job organising and running the league. The feedback from players and parents has been fantastic, and it's clear these lads have put in serious effort to make this a success – well done boys, we really appreciate you stepping up for our NextGen players!
And of course, huge thanks to Little Wing for their sports bursary, which made this whole league possible. Your support is helping develop the next generation of table tennis talent, and we couldn't be more grateful for the opportunity!
What's Next?
Two more rounds coming up through May and June – plenty of time for teams to climb the table and players to chase down those leaders. Let's keep this momentum going!
