Lagan Dragons Ltd, Dragon Boat Sports Club…Get in touch! No experience is necessary as all members are new to the sport of dragon boat racing.

Lagan Dragons is a dragon boat team based at the River Lagan, Belfast for anyone affected by Breast Cancer. Lagan Dragons were set up to:

• Encourage those who have been diagnosed with and treated for breast cancer to lead full and active lives
• Raise awareness about breast cancer
• Provide support and fellowship to team members
• Offer support to the family and friends of members

We’ve received the most amazing GOOD LUCK messages from teams from around the world who are here with us as we all get ready to race 2026 IBCPC Participatory Dragon Boat Festival, Francehere in Aix les Bains! 🇫🇷🌊

The excitement is building, but what makes this event truly special is the incredible team spirit, friendship and camaraderie shared between everyone here💜

We may come from different countries, speak different languages and race for different teams, but we are all connected by a shared journey and a love of dragon boating. 🐉🌍💜

🐉💗💜WHAT A START TO AN INCREDIBLE JOURNEY! 🇫🇷🌊

Lagan Dragons have arrived in Aix les Bains and are already soaking up every moment of this very special experience. 💜

We’ve been getting out on the water for training, meeting teams from around the world and taking in the incredible atmosphere ahead of racing this weekend.

And what a proud moment…
Our girls had the honour of LEADING THE PARADE OF NATIONS at the Opening Ceremony! 🐉💜

To see Lagan Dragons proudly represented amongst thousands of people from across the world is something truly special.

Now the excitement builds as racing gets closer! 🥁🌊

All the hard work, training and fundraising has brought us to this moment. This weekend we’ll get on that water, paddle together and give it everything we’ve got.

We couldn’t be prouder of you all. 💜

Enjoy every second, make memories, soak up the atmosphere and most importantly… PADDLE STRONG, PADDLE TOGETHER! 🐉💪🌊

This weekend our amazing team begin their journey to the International Breast Cancer Festival in Aix-les-Bains, France.

After months of training, fundraising, preparation and determination the moment has finally arrived. 💗

We couldn’t be prouder of every single member of our team who has made this incredible journey possible. We want to wish all our fellow paddlers travelling from all over the world good luck🍀

This event is about so much more than dragon boat racing. It is about friendship, courage, resilience, support and celebrating life. To be surrounded by thousands of people from around the world who understand the breast cancer journey is something truly special.

So paddle strong, paddle together and enjoy every single moment! 🐉

Amazing achievement Karen and Hilly💜

Two paddlers who are members of a dragon boating club set up for women impacted by breast cancer have just returned from competing in the European Championships in Munich.

Karen Martin (66) from Lisburn brought home four silver medals in the 200m, 500m, 1000m and 2000m events with the GB Breast Cancer Paddlers.
