Ballyclare Lawn Tennis Club

Newtownabbey and Antrim borough has lost another good tennis facility. Three courts at the University of Ulster Jordanstown sports centre. Northern Ireland tennis cannot afford to lose any tennis facility as our sport really struggles for investment. The Northern Ireland Sports Minister Gordon Lyons must look closely at the beleaguered sport of tennis and the lack of funding that Northern Ireland doesn't receive from the annual Wimbledon profits under LTA obligations to Team GB and Northern Ireland Olympic, Paralympic and Deaflympic Tennis. Northern Ireland loses out on around 1.2 million pounds per annum for Tennis investment from the Wimbledon profits of around 40 million pounds.

The County Antrim grass court Championships 26 brought more success for Northern Ireland leading player Dylan Leeman with partner Michael Blease and Belfast Coach of the year Jordan McKeown the new singles champion from Hawarden Tennis Club. A big congrats to the Champions and everyone who played and organised this great tennis event at the famous Ballycastle grass courts .
