Another successful International Box Cup for team Mac over the weekend 💪 3 boxers in Conor Dowds, Cormac Smyth and Garoid Monaghan secured 🥇 at the Monkstown Box Cup in Dublin, alongside a silver medal 🥈 for Zak Cole and a semi final place for Paddy Saunders 🥉.
This comes just weeks after an outstanding performance at the Portimão Box Cup, where the team brought home 7 golds 🥇 1 silver🥈 and 1 🥉, as well as an overall 3rd place team award in a tournament featuring 100+ teams and over 1,200 boxers 🥊
Well done team 🩵

The Mac Men were in fine form today at the Monkstown Box Cup.
Garóid Monaghan began today's proceedings with a brave, strong and determined performance in a real dogfight against the four-time Indian champion. The Mac Man came out the clear and obvious winner.
The heavy-hitting Zack Cole was up next and was dominant in the first, giving his opponent from England a standing count in the dying seconds of the first round. Zack started the second the way he finished the first, keeping the pressure high and forcing the referee to call a halt to proceedings midway through the second round.
Cormac Smith continued the success with another standout performance in a hard fight against a strong and brave opponent. However, Cormac showed his skill and landed the cleaner, more damaging shots throughout the contest, earning a unanimous decision victory.
Unfortunately, it was not to be for Paddy Saunders, who lost on a split decision. Paddy appeared to land the cleaner, more effective shots at range as his opponent came forward. Unfortunately, the judges did not agree. However, the performance was excellent, and Paddy is on an upward trajectory with his recent performances.

The lads are off to a flying start at the Monkstown Box Cup.
With Naoise McCorry performing very well in his skills bout this morning.
Moving on to Zack Cole who boxed clever to control the pace of the fight and land the hurtful shots.
Cormac Smith finished off the day with a great control and fast hands to win unanimously.
Keep it going tomorrow lads as well as Paddy Saunders. 🩵

Great days boxing today for Naoise McCorry, Shea Tully and Shea Mathews. All 3 lads showed very impressive skills rounding off a great session.
However a special mention must go to "Wee Shea" who stepped in last minute. He was giving away size and strength but he displayed the art of boxing, with a great performance against the bigger boy. He showed how to hit and not get hit. Shea has been working hard in the club and exhibited masterful feet work and brilliant counter attacks. One to watch!
Well done to all 3 boys today and a massive thanks to Glengormley for the invite up to ur show! 🥊
