On Sunday 30th August we held our first ever Ryder Cup of Bowls Tournament. President Richard Mawhinney's team (Blues) against Vice President David Lavery's team (Reds). David unfortunately could not make it on the day, so he nominated Ian Robinson to fill in for him as his Captain.

The 4's and the triples were played before lunch with the Blues building a small lead at the break. The Reds were inspired though after lunch and clawed back most of the Blues lead during the pairs. The Blues had a small lead and went into the singles matches favourite for the win, but the Red's continued their great form and closed the gap, with the whole match coming down to the last singles match.

The Red's came out on top, winning the tournament by the slenderest of margins. Congratulations to Vice President David, Captain Ian Robinson and their team for winning our first Ryder Cup tournament. Thanks to all those that came along to support the event and to the ladies that provided the food for the lunch. The food was delicious!

It turned out to be a fantastic day and as you can see in the photos, everyone had a great time. We all are looking forward to next year’s tournament!

Midweek Division 1 – Wednesday 26th August 2026 – 6.30pm

Ewarts v Ulster Transport A

Ewarts need 1 point in their last match of the season against Ulster Transport to secure 2nd place in Division 1. This will be a difficult match as Ulster Transport are currently in 5th place and will want to get a win to move further up the table themselves. Ewarts have played well for the majority of the season and will hope to finish strongly and secure 2nd place

Division 2 – Tuesday 25th August 2026 – 6.30pm

Ulster Transport A vs Ewarts A

This will be a difficult match for Ewarts who are up against the league leaders away from home. Ewarts A are in danger of getting relegated and are only 2 and a half points above the relegation zone, having played an extra game compared to their rivals. Ewarts A need a big performance to try and win some points, can they do it…..

Division 4 - Tuesday 25th August 2026 – 6.30pm

Ewarts B vs PSNI

Ewarts entertain PSNI in what will be a tricky match against a strong PSNI team. Ewarts were defeated by PSNI earlier in the season and will be looking for a better performance this time around. Good luck!!
