GOOD LUCK, LYALL CAMERON!

Lyall Cameron heads to Dundee United on loan for the season, and we wish the kid nothing but success. Go to Tannadice, get regular football, enjoy yourself and show everyone exactly what you can do.

For us, this loan makes sense in one major way, Lyall needs games. Sitting on the Rangers bench getting the odd few minutes isn’t going to develop him or increase his value. If he goes to United, plays week in, week out, adds goals and assists and becomes one of their standout players, Rangers could get a much better and more experienced player back.

The only thing we would question is whether a loan move to England could potentially have offered an even bigger opportunity. If a 23-year-old Cameron went into the Championship, played regularly and started flying, his value could rise considerably in that market. If Rangers eventually decided to sell, strong performances in England could potentially bring much bigger offers.

But regular football has to come first, and if Dundee United have given him that opportunity, then go and grab it with both hands.

Come back to Ibrox next summer a better player, ready to fight for that Rangers jersey, and if things eventually go another way, make sure Rangers are holding a much more valuable asset.

Good luck, Lyall.

REMEMBER SEPTEMBER

1st September 1975 - Tullyvallen Orange Hall, South Armagh.

September should be a month when we remember and tell the truth about what happened to our community during the Troubles.

On this night in 1975, members of Tullyvallen Guiding Star Temperance Orange Lodge were gathered for an ordinary lodge meeting.

Gunmen burst into their Orange Hall and opened fire.

Five innocent men were murdered. Seven others were wounded.

We remember their names:

John Johnston aged 80
James McKee aged 73
Ronnie McKee aged 40
Nevin McConnell aged 48
William Herron aged 68, who died from his wounds two days later.

A father and son were among the dead.

These men were not combatants. They were members of a local community, gathered together in their Orange Hall.

The attack was claimed by well known South Armagh Sinn Fein IRA members, although Only one person was ever convicted in connection with the massacre John Anthony McCooey, who was convicted of driving the gunmen to and from Tullyvallen Orange Hall.

No one else has ever been convicted for the attack that took five innocent lives. It’s been widely alleged that others who took part were paid informants.

Fifty-one years later, we remember them.

There can be no hierarchy of victims and no rewriting of history. Every innocent life taken during the Troubles mattered.

All their names deserve to be spoken.

John Johnston.
James McKee.
Ronnie McKee.
Nevin McConnell.
William Herron.

We will remember them.

Lest we forget!

YOU DON’T GET TO REWRITE HISTORY.

Anne Marie Petticrew was 19 when she died on 1 September 1973 after being critically injured in a premature Sinn Fein IRA bomb explosion in Elaine Street, Belfast.

Today, the republican movement commemorates her. Her name appears on republican memorials and a Ballymurphy mural honouring women associated with Sinn Fein IRA.

But murals and commemorations cannot erase uncomfortable history.

Sinn Fein IRA chose a campaign of bombs and shootings that killed civilians, devastated families and left generations carrying the consequences.

Republicanism is entitled to remember its dead. It is not entitled to sanitise the campaign they participated in or push its victims into the background.

Paint the murals. Hold the commemorations. Put the names on Rolls of Honour.

But you cannot paint over the truth.

No political spin changes what happened.

NO EXCUSES.
NO WHITEWASHING.
NO REWRITING HISTORY.

THE INNOCENT VICTIMS DESERVE THE TRUTH.

Today you can raise a 🥃 to the death of Sinn Fein IRA member Anne Marie Petticrew who sadly died making her next bomb.
