So, in the end, a late equaliser was enough for them to earn a draw on the night and send us crashing out of Europe at the first hurdle.
Going down to ten men after McGee handled the ball in the area left the referee with little choice but to award a penalty and produce a red card.
To be fair, David Healy’s changes at half-time almost paid off. Offord and Fitz battled for absolutely everything and gave us a real chance of hanging on.
It’s another hugely disappointing European exit and, sadly, one that feels all too familiar. Year after year, we seem to find a way to let these opportunities slip.

Well 2nd leg tonight at home with the blues 1-0 down. It’s looking like no away fans at the minute and to be honest with the Kop and South stand open it’s we aren’t exactly fighting over seats. Definitely need to go for it and not rely on chances on the break.
Hard to know how things are going to go this season there’s no doubt on their day our first eleven could beat any team in the league it depends it just depends who’s up for it most!

All Linfield supporters are appalled by yet another character assassination of our club by the Alliance Party.
As an Amalgamation of Supporters Clubs from across Northern Ireland, we pride ourselves on welcoming people from all walks of life to join us in following Linfield Football Club.
The removal of the original social media post does nothing to solve the obvious cultural antithesis that Naomi Long's Party hold against Linfield Football Club.
Our club and its supporters have spent decades trying to reverse stereotypes and unfair opinions held against our club. The irony that the so called "middle ground" would use our club flag as a symbol of hatred is beyond the pale.
We are proud to put our name alongside Linfield Football Club on flags and banners that travel across the country and across the World. We will continue to show our pride everywhere we travel.
We wish to place on record our full support behind the clubs statement and wish to reiterate this is not something which cannot be satisfied by simply “getting over it”.

So who thinks that those wallopers in the Alliance Party knew exactly what they were doing!
Linfield statement ⤵️⤵️
Linfield FC was shocked and extremely disappointed yesterday to see that a local political party had used the Club’s badge in a political message
linked to “abusive flags”.
The Club engaged at an early stage with representatives of the party responsible and secured the deletion of the offending post. A rather conditional apology from their South Belfast MLA has since followed.
With all due respect, and in particular context of previous issues between this Club and other elected representatives of this party, it is difficult to see any other reasonable interpretation of the use of a Linfield FC flag as the sole imagery accompanying an article referring specifically to “abusive flags”.
We did feel that the matter had been brought under some control yesterday evening, however, until an inappropriate and undignified late night intervention from that party’s leader.
Linfield FC now awaits full and unconditional apologies from the Alliance Party and the individuals in question.

The latest rumours in the local press and online suggest that David Healy is being considered for the vacant manager’s position at Shelbourne.
So, should he stay or should he go?
Or is this simply another rumour, with our manager doing exactly what you’d expect—keeping an eye on potential future opposition and carrying out his job?
What’s your take?

Unfortunately, we couldn’t get the result we wanted in Estonia and will take a 1-0 deficit back to Windsor Park for the second leg.
A huge well done to all of the supporters who made the journey out there and safe home to you all.
There is no doubt this tie is still very much there to be won, although it’s fair to ask whether we should be beating teams like this over two legs.
As expected, some supporters have already reached for the panic button after just one game, something that unfortunately became all too familiar last season. Equally, our proud history and tradition, while something we should always cherish, won’t win matches for us this season.
This is a big campaign for the club, and the focus now has to be on next week’s second leg. The players will need our backing, and we’ll be there at Windsor Park doing exactly that.
Come on, Linfield! 💙
Kick off out in Estonia for the first leg. A draw would be ok but ideally need the win to put one foot into the next round against Shelbourne!
