“I’m not just my diagnosis. Bipolar is not my identity.”
We're sharing real words from people living with bipolar disorder to help challenge stigma and encourage understanding.
A diagnosis can help explain what someone is experiencing, but it does not define who they are.
Every person living with bipolar has their own experience. There is no one typical journey, and no two people experience bipolar in exactly the same way.
If this post resonates with you, or you'd like to learn more about bipolar disorder and the support available, visit aware-ni.org/lets-talk.

Could you support AWARE NI through your salary? 💛
Payroll Giving is a simple way to make a regular donation directly from your pay, before Income Tax is deducted. This means your donation can cost you less, while helping us keep free and immediate support available to people across Northern Ireland.
Even a small regular gift can make a real difference to the people who rely on AWARE NI’s support.
Want to get started?⬇️
- Speak to your employer or payroll team and ask if they offer Payroll Giving.
- If they do, you can ask for an application form and choose AWARE NI as the charity you'd like to support.

We’re absolutely delighted to be announced as the chosen charity for Shandon Park Golf Club’s Captain and Lady Captain this year ⛳💛
They’ve already been off to an incredible start - most recently hosting a fantastic quiz night on Friday, raising an amazing £1,600!
We’re so grateful for the support and can’t wait to work together over the coming months to make a real difference for mental health across Northern Ireland.
Thank you to everyone involved - and to all who came along and supported! 🥰
