A special honour for one of our own!

Grosvenor Rugby Club is incredibly proud to see Stuart “Junior” Smyth selected to represent the Barbarians against Banbridge RFC as part of the club’s Centenary celebrations.

Selection for the Barbarians is regarded as one of the highest individual honours in rugby, with the famous black and white jersey worn by some of the greatest players to ever grace the game. To have a Grosvenor representative pull on the iconic Baa-Baas jersey is a remarkable achievement.

It’s made even more special by the selection of a player who has given so much to our club’s success over the years, both on and off the pitch.

Congratulations to our 26-27 Grosvenor RFC Club Captain, 1st XV Captain and Vice Captain.

Grosvenor veteran Ben Coard takes up the mantle of Club Captain for the second consecutive season, huge efforts both on and off the pitch in his first year in the role made a second year a no brainer choice!

Ben Davies joins an illustrious group of men, including Joe Eagleson, Alan McGaughey, Andrew Gibson, Steven McCready and Stuart ‘Junior Waf’ Smyth, to captain both Grosvenor Grammar School and the Club 1st XVs. A special achievement for a true stag.

Ben will be supported by Vice Captain cameronknell Knellsy takes up the role after a number of stellar seasons on the 1st XV, a huge level of commitment which saw him start every 1st XV game in the 25-26 season and a clear evidence of leadership qualities.

No better men to lead us into the 26-27 season!
