๐ŸŒณโ˜€๏ธ WHAT A FANTASTIC SUMMER EVENING WITH GO RUN RANDASLTOWN ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Go Run NI was delighted to be invited along to Go Run Randalstown Summer Special last night and what an evening it was!๐Ÿ’š

As Run Leader Naomi said:
'It was great to experience the fantastic atmosphere and community spirit the makes social running so special.

After a relaxed 30 minutes social run around the forest, everyone enjoyed a well-earned coffee and ice cream at a local cafe ๐Ÿฆโ˜•๏ธ
The perfect way to finish a warm summer evening!

Although Go Run Randalstown is now taking a short summer break, they'll be back in September, ready to welcome new and returning runners of all abilities.

๐Ÿƒ Running is booming โ€“ and that's something worth celebrating.

The latest National Running Report shows that group running continues to grow, with more people than ever choosing to run together, connect with others and build communities through running.

We're seeing that growth across Northern Ireland too.

Many of today's social running groups started simply as friends meeting up for a run. Over time, some evolve into something much bigger:

โœ… Weekly meet-ups

โœ… Growing membership

โœ… New runners joining regularly

โœ… Organised routes and sessions

โœ… Public events promoted on social media

That's a fantastic success story.

As groups grow, it's worth remembering that what starts as an informal run with friends can gradually become an organised activity with wider responsibilities to participants, leaders and the community.

The good news? You don't have to navigate that journey alone.

As the National Governing Body for athletics and running in Northern Ireland, we're here to support clubs, social running groups, run crews and community organisers alike. Whether it's guidance, leadership development, safeguarding, insurance, inclusion or best practice, we're keen to help groups continue to thrive while keeping what makes them special.

We believe there is room for everyone in running.

So we'd love to hear from social running groups across Northern Ireland:

What's been the biggest lesson you've learned as your group has grown?

๐ŸŒž Perfect running weather today.

The sun is aggressively trying to kill us, the pavement is one degree below molten lava, and every breath feels like inhaling through a hairdryer. Ideal conditions for setting personal bests and making questionable life choices.

Remember: hydration is for the weak. Real runners survive purely on stubbornness, caffeine, and the vague memory of having seen a water bottle earlier.

If you stop sweating, that's just your body becoming more aerodynamic.

(Actually though... slow it down, bring water, wear sunscreen, run to the conditions, and look after yourselves and each other. No Strava segment is worth heat exhaustion. Stay safe out there โค๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ)
