On Saturday, we had the great privilege of hosting the wedding vowel renewal party for one our club sponsors and great figures within the club, Sully & Jaks 💍

The Sullivans have been amongst the biggest supporters of Harrold Cricket Club over the past few years and provided us with a huge amount and it was amazing for us to be able to be a small part in their special day ❤️

An amazing day was had by all, with the guest list full of Harrold Players and spectators alike, all who enjoyed a cracking day with great company (and a sore head the following morning…)

🏏 Final fortnightly round up 😢

With the end to the 2026 season in sight, there’s a final three games to recap before we dive into some end of season content🎉

With our Saturday campaigns all wrapped up, the two Sunday XIs entered the final fortnight of the season with two respective promotions up for grabs 🤩

The Sunday XI needed 1 win from their remaining 2 games, which seemed a tall order after being bundled out for 81 away at Lutonians, a formidable venue for those who’ve experienced it…
Despite that, the boys rallied together with a 5-star bowling and fielding performance, restricting the opposition to just 71 all out. With promotion secured and a bank holiday the next day, it seemed only right to celebrate at the wonderful Fox beer festival 🍻
The following week’s season ender against Flitwick saw 10 extremely hungover men (and a boxer preparing for fight night) somehow secure a convincing victory, even after being 0 for 3 after 5 balls of the game. Pilot Byrne survived the hatrick ball (despite having one glove on) and together with head BBQ chef Pritch helped us post a respectable 205. Captain Peckham then starred with the ball, bamboozling the Flitwick middle order with stunning figures of 5 for 10 👏

The 2nd XI made the long trip to face title rivals Offley, knowing 4 bonus points would secure promotion, but a win would see them take home the division 6 title. Unfortunately victory and the title were a step too far, despite a wonderful 70* from Ben Saunders. However the 9 wickets secured in the first innings were enough to secure us the required bonus points and promotion for next season 💪

🏏 The run-in is hotting up 🔥🥵

With just two weekends left to the go in the season, there’s a lot to play for at HCC 👀

Saturday saw the first XI secure a record setting victory by 314 runs as they’re now one game away from completing an unbeaten season. A first HCC 50 for Tim set the platform, before a pair of 90s from Micky & Will saw an imposing score of 375 set before the bowlers dismantled the opposition.
The 2nd XI unfortunately fell short away against the league leaders but still have a hope of promotion of results go their way 🙏🤞

The Sunday first XI took a massive step towards securing 2nd place, beating promotion rivals Olney. A crucial middle order partnership between Charlie and Craig set the game up before both then chipped in with the ball (and Jamie bowled “the best ball he’s ever bowled”) 👏
The Sunday 2nd XI also had a dominate display, set up by a 122 runs opening stand between Ben & Pritch, who went on to record a superb 97. Opening bowlers Rick and Luke made some early inroads with the ball, before ‘Magic Man Max Bowman’ came on first change to take his first HCC 5-fer, getting his name on the honours board and putting his side back to the top of the table 💪

Also, as it was missed last week, a special mention to Ollie Jackson. When opening the batting for the 2nd XI last Sunday made a jaw dropping 160*, the second highest score in HCC history 🤯

N.b. By way of an apology for not mentioning Ollies knock before, a not so slick bit of feidling from the admin has been included…🥴

HCC 1st XI vs HCC OBs 🏏🤩

Sunday saw the first iteration of Harrold’s 1st XI taking on a select team of HCC legends, and what a day it was!

Harrold 1st XI were victorious in a fiercely fought contest, but more importantly the day was about brining the past and present of our great club together.

A massive thanks to everyone who helped organise, provided meals or even just came down to watch. With an incredible mid game tea and delicious post match meal provided, you can be sure that players and spectators alike will be queuing up to attend next years fixture ❤️

Not sure it’s possible for a cricket club to have a better 7 days 😮‍💨

It started with our midweek first XI cruising through their plate semi final, making it to a 3rd consecutive final to be played on Tuesday the 4th of August at Kempston Hammers. A blistering knock from skipper Freddie saw victory secured in half the allotted overs🤩

The Saturday first XI then saw their league title secured with a month still to go in the season. Another well rounded performance resulted in a 137 victory. The 2nd XI enjoyed similar success, a 2nd century of the season for Dan helped tighten the grip on a promotion place this season 💪

Whilst celebrations were enjoyed on Saturday, there was work still to be done on Sunday, with the HoC hosting an absolute nail biter. Facing some excellent spin bowling, Harrold scrapes their way to 171 thanks to Jamie’s late order knock of 30. Despite this, the game looked lost when Langford needed just 7 runs with 3 wickets in hand. Up stepped magic man Jamie again, removing the set batsmen and his teammate with the next ball, before big Fred secured victory with just his 2nd ball of the game to send the home fans wild 👏
The 2nd XI were on the wrong side of their game, but made it back to Harrold in time to cheer the 1st XI over the line ❤️

You can’t win em all…

A mixed week of results for HCC, with two excellent victories on Saturday to go with two tough losses.

The Midweek 2nd XI fielded a side full of youth who unfortunately fell short against Pavenham, despite a hard-hitting 35 from Raef🐔

Both Saturday XIs kept their winning runs going. The first team extended their gap at the top of the league to 144 points with a comfortable victory against Road Runners. Phil Supple with the standout figures of 4-30 in his first game of the season helped restrict the opposition to 139. Our batters were able to make light work of the chase, with another destructive knock of 64 from 46 balls from Pas, including 6 sixes and taking him over the 800 run mark for the season👏

The second XI re-entered battle against local rivals Riseley and enjoyed another cracker. A tough home pitch saw HCC restricted to 157 in the first innings. Following a delicious match tea provided by our own Club President, the bowlers went to work and dismantled the Riseley batting line up securing a 95 run win. A new ball bowling masterclass from Tom Noble saw him return career best figures of 6 for 19, knocking off-stump out the ground on three separate occasions💪

The Sunday XI also had to battle a tricky pitch and unfortunately fell to defeat against Lutonians, although remain secure in 2nd place as they continue to pursue promotion

🏏 HCC FAMILY 🧑‍🧑‍🧒

Another outstanding weekend for the mighty Harrold. After tricky midweek results for both sides, the weekend teams were able to continue their excellent form with 3 wins out of 3 😮‍💨

The Saturday first XI extended their unbeaten run at the top of the league. Plane enthusiast Michael Byrne and Harrold heartthrob/all round great bloke put on 122 for the 6th wicket, before the wickets were shared around by the bowlers. Despite the best efforts of the Caddington skipper (who seemed desperate to make the 40 over game last for 5 days), the team made it back to Harrold in time for the football with the full 30 points 💪

The 2nd XI were blessed with two left handers in scintillating form. Another half century for Jacob, continuing his superb run at the top of the order, and a second century of the season for .g2301 saw an imposing total of 288 set. It was a family affair, as Holly then took the new ball taking 3 early wickets to set the team on their way to a 128 run victory 👏

Onto Sunday, and another clinic from Pasan Kulasinghe at the top of the order. On a very tricky pitch, Pas showed aggression and restraint in equal measure as he made 70 runs, setting the platform for us to attack with the ball in the second half. And .g2301 did exactly that. Not happy with just his 125 from the day before, Charlie opened the bowling and took 6-38, sending HCC on their way to a thumping 152 run victory and extending the gap between them and 3rd place 🤩
