The bank holiday weekend doesn’t require either extreme.
You don’t need to take Tupperware to every social occasion.
You also don’t need to consume everything like the country is entering another lockdown.
Train if you planned to.
Stay reasonably active.
Eat some decent meals.
Enjoy a few things without turning one treat into four days of chaos.
That’s what balance actually looks like.

A health scare has a brutal way of rearranging your priorities.
Things you thought mattered suddenly don’t.
Things you took for granted, energy, movement, time and health become everything.
But you shouldn’t need a diagnosis to start looking after yourself.
If your body has been sending warnings, listen now.
Not “one day.”
Now.

What’s the best exercise for fat loss?
The one you’ll continue doing.
What’s the best diet?
The one that creates the result without making you miserable.
What’s the best time to train?
The time you can reliably protect.
People waste months searching for perfect answers.
Start with something effective, realistic and repeatable.
Then improve it as you go.

If only Susan Knew my journey! I did Mount Snowden still underweight, with fatigue, early morning, had trouble eating.
Four weeks after treatment from stage 3 head and neck cancer I did 'The Fance Dance' with Olly Ollerton and my coach Paul Mort.
I wonder what Susan has done?

There is a difference between needing a push and genuinely needing recovery.
After cancer, illness or prolonged stress, fatigue isn’t always solved by shouting “no excuses.”
Sometimes the answer is sleep, blood tests, nutrition, pacing or medical advice.
Sometimes the answer is movement.
The skill is learning which one your body needs.
Good coaching isn’t about pushing you harder every time.
It’s about helping you make the right decision.

There are roughly four months left in 2026.
That is enough time to make a massive difference.
You could become noticeably stronger.
Improve your fitness.
Reduce your waist measurement.
Build better eating habits.
Restore some confidence.
Or you could wait until January and make the same promises again.
The year isn’t over.
But stop behaving as though you have unlimited time.
