I get asked this a lot when I’m teaching clients — “How far should I actually be hitting my driver?”

This data from Arccos Golf gives a really interesting look at the average driving distance based on age and handicap.

And to be honest, I think these figures are pretty accurate from what I see when teaching golfers of all ages and abilities.

Remember, these are total distances (carry + roll), so don’t compare them directly to your carry distance.

The key takeaway? 👉 Distance isn’t everything!
Finding the fairway, improving strike, controlling your launch and playing to your strengths can make a much bigger difference to your scores.
