Mike's Bikes

Been a busy and varied day today!

Bike 1: Customer had impulse bought a new frameset so a full frame swap required. This also included completely stripping and rebuilding the brake calipers as they had seized up. A touch delicate, but quite a carthartic experience.

Bike 2: Trek Session DH bike required a full service ready for an Alps holiday - nice change from the road bikes I usually see!

Bike 3: Thorn touring tandem which needed a Rohloff oil change, new chains and a service ready for another holiday. I love working on tandems, they offer a unique way of working.

Bike 4: Specialized Allez with snapped off frame cable adjusters. Drilled out, tapped and new adjusters fitted. Fiddly and time consuming, but so satisfying!

Spent a pleasant evening gluing up a set of Pista tubular tyres onto some carbon track wheels.

Very light, amazingly supple and hopefully super fast too!

Had a great evening coaching at the New College Leicester Cycle Circuit with the Barrow Babes CC!

Some great work done on cornering (line choice, body position and speed), followed by time spent working on riding together in a close group.

Amazing progression made by every rider!

I am very excited to start building this up for my personal bike - Fox Live Valve.

It's a fully electronic automatic suspension lockout system, and should be amazing on my new Pivot Mach 4 SL!

We now offer a full waxing service for chains!

Having now trialled it for several months and a few thousand kilometres, we are happy to say that we agree with Zero Friction Cycling (https://zerofrictioncycling.com.au) and we'd like to offer this to our customers.

If you buy a new chain and cassette from us we can clean it, wax it and fit it for an additional £10 and you can enjoy a faster, quieter, smoother and cleaner drivetrain too!

We all know that more trees means better singletrack, more oxygen, less CO2 and all kinds of good things.

So we have partnered with and pledge to plant one tree for every bike that we service.

After quite a while of no stock, we're pleased to say that we've just had our first resupply of King Cages! We now have plenty of SS cages and Iris cages too.
Loads of parcels going out today to those who have been so patient while we waited for them to arrive from the USA.

This BB had really seized into place. We went through the small tools, the big tools, heat and the big vice before it eventually came out in pieces. The new one will be going back in with a LOT of copper slip anti-seize compound!
