As most of you will know, our teaching team is going through a few changes, with Miss Kyra and Miss Jess leaving us. We wanted to update you all on who will be teaching throughout the week moving forward.
As you’ll see, Miss Charlie will be around much more! She’ll initially be shadowing Miss Bryony, Josh and Miss Jess, giving her time to get to know the children and classes before taking over her new sessions.
On Fridays, Charlie will shadow Miss Jess until she leaves and will then continue working alongside Josh during the handover.
Please take a look at our updated teaching timetable below so you know who you’ll see at the pool each day. 🩵🏊🏻♂️

🎓💦 Our preschoolers are MOVING UP!
September is nearly here, which means some of our little daytime swimmers are taking the next big step and moving up into our evening classes. 🥹👏
That also means we’ve been able to open up spaces for a brand-new group of babies and preschoolers to join us during the day — and they’re already filling up nicely! 🖤
So if you’ve been thinking about starting swimming lessons with your little one, this is the perfect time to do it.
👶 Babies welcome from just 12 weeks old
💦 Build water confidence from the very beginning
🫧 Learn through play, songs and movement
🏊 Develop those all-important early swimming skills
🖤 Small, friendly classes in our private pool
There really is no need to wait until they’re older. Starting young can help make the water feel like a completely normal, happy place to be.
Our September daytime spaces won’t stay around forever, so don’t miss your chance to join us. 💦

The skill nobody thinks about… GETTING OUT of the pool!
We spend lots of time teaching children how to swim, float, breathe and move safely through the water but knowing how to get themselves OUT safely is an important water-safety skill too. 🏊♀️
Being able to independently exit the water can build confidence, independence and most importantly, give children another skill they can use if they ever need to get themselves to safety.
So how do we teach it? 👇
1️⃣ Swim to the pool edge.
2️⃣ Reach out and get a secure hold of the side.
3️⃣ Bring one knee up onto the poolside or onto the pool bar where available.
4️⃣ Push up through their arms and bring the other leg out of the water.
5️⃣ Sit or kneel safely away from the edge. 🙌
It might look like such a simple part of a swimming lesson but there’s a much bigger reason behind it.
At DCY, we’re not just teaching children how to swim.
We’re teaching them the skills, confidence and independence to be safer in and around water. 💙
Because knowing how to get OUT can be every bit as important as knowing how to get IN. 💦

To our beautiful Miss Kyra ❤️
From watching you just finish school to watching you grow into the lovely young woman you are today, we couldn’t be prouder!
Today is Kyra’s last ever set shift with us, and we honestly can’t thank her enough.
You were thrown in at the deep end and took everything in your stride. You stepped up massively when we needed you most, and we genuinely wouldn’t have been without you. ❤️
We’re going to miss your hard work, your lovely nature and, of course, hearing the kids…
“Miss Kyra! Miss Kyra! MISS KYRA!” 😂
And a huge shoutout to Adele (Kyra’s mum!) and Dad for always getting her to work before she passed her test — and to Adele for being quite possibly our biggest Facebook fan. 😅❤️
Now we need your help…
Kyra CAN’T SEE THIS POST YET! 🤫
Please leave a lovely message, memory or good-luck wish for Kyra in the comments below. We’re going to collect them all and write them up for her to keep forever. ❤️
We wish you all the luck in the world in your new role, Kyra, although we’re fairly certain they won’t be quite as legendary as us. 😅
We love you and we’ll miss you loads. ❤️
Josh, Bryony & everyone at DCY Swim School x
