THE NEW SEASON IS HERE!
This Saturday, the new football season gets underway for Wombwell Town Girls — and what a season we have ahead of us!

We’re incredibly proud to be starting the season with 10 girls’ teams, as our section continues to grow from strength to strength.

This weekend sees our U9, U10, U12 and U14 Black teams all make their club debuts, joining our existing U8, U11, U14 Reds, U15 and U16 teams. 👏

And we’re not stopping there…

Our newest team, the U8 Development squad, start training next week before entering the league in the new year.

That’s 10 teams, hundreds of opportunities to play, develop, make friends and fall in love with football.

At Wombwell Town, we believe in the importance of girls’ football and are committed to creating as many playing opportunities as possible for girls of all ages and abilities.

And this season, you can follow the journey with us!

Keep an eye out for our weekly blog — “Girls, Goals & Game Changers” — where we’ll be following the progress of our teams throughout the season, celebrating their successes, sharing their experiences and showcasing the girls who make our section so special.

We are excited to announce the launch of our latest girls team! 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗨𝟴 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 who are looking for players!

ELIGIBILITY: Girls aged 6 or 7 as of 31/08/2026 are eligible to join.

Our first training session is Monday 7th September 2026, and we’re welcoming girls of all abilities and experience levels. Whether your lioness is taking her first steps into football or already has some experience, we’d love to have her come along, make friends and enjoy the game. 🙌

WHAT IS A DEVELOPMENT TEAM?

This team is all about learning, developing and having fun in a positive and supportive environment. The focus is on helping every player grow in confidence, learn new skills and enjoy being part of a team.

TRAINING
📅 Mondays
⏰ 6:00pm–7:00pm
📍 Lundhill Playing Fields, Wombwell, S73 0RL

MATCHES

We’ll initially play friendly matches to give the girls time to get to know each other, build confidence and get used to playing together.

The aim is to enter the U8 Girls Development League after the Christmas break, giving the players the opportunity to experience league football when they’re ready.

Whether an experienced player or completely new to club football - Wombwell Town Juniors FC U14 Girls could be the team for you!

New to football? Don’t worry! If you’ve got the attitude and willingness to learn, we’ll help you develop your confidence and become the best player you can be.

Based in Wombwell S73 - Ideal for players based in Barnsley, Rotherham, West/South-west Doncaster & North Sheffield.
