🏆 Peasedown Albion win 4-3 on penalties
What a cup classic!
Banwell faced a huge test away against a physical Peasedown Albion side from the league above, and the game certainly lived up to its billing.
The home side came flying out of the blocks, pinning Banwell back and making it extremely difficult for the boys to play their way out of the slope. Eventually, the pressure told and Peasedown took the lead.
Banwell responded brilliantly, with Leo Sales finding the equaliser, but the home side struck again just before half-time to leave Banwell trailing at the break.
A tactical change at half-time completely changed the momentum of the game, putting Peasedown on the back foot. Banwell soon found their reward as Tay Cook finished well to bring the scores level.
The pressure continued, and Banwell took the lead for the first time through a Will Clamp header. However, Peasedown refused to bac down and once again found an equaliser.
With the game heading towards its conclusion, Banwell thought they had won it when Tay Cook smashed home a late volley — only for Peasedown to once again level the scores and force the tie to penalties.
Unfortunately, the spot kicks didn't go Banwell's way and Peasedown progress to the next round.
Despite the result, there was plenty to be proud of from a young Banwell side who never stopped fighting!

"It was a really good test for our young side against a very physical team from the league above. I couldn't be prouder of the boys today and the way they just kept fighting back. We really should have won the game."
The whole squad once again played their part, with Will Clamp excellent at the back, George Darch putting in a strong performance in midfield and Tay Cook, unusually featuring on the left wing, grabbing two goals.
But in truth, it was a fantastic team effort and difficult to fault anyone after such a battling performance.
