The Body Masters MD 504 is a proper piece of old-school American commercial gym equipment — and one you rarely see these days.

The MD 504 was around when commercial gym equipment was built with a very different philosophy: heavy-duty construction, simple mechanics and a movement that actually feels good.
And the resistance profile is a huge part of what makes this machine special. The linkage and pivoting movement create a smooth, progressive feel throughout the range, rather than the movement simply feeling like you're moving a fixed resistance. You get that controlled loading through the rep while the machine's geometry helps keep the movement feeling natural.
For the pec fly, it gives you that beautiful controlled arc and a strong contraction as the handles come together.
Flip it around for the rear delt, and the swivel handles and alignment make it feel incredibly natural through horizontal abduction — exactly why this machine has been used in strength research as a reverse-fly machine.
Add in the adjustable seat, heavy commercial construction and those swivelling handles, and you've got a machine that still feels seriously impressive more than 30 years later.
And that's the real appeal…
They don't make them like this anymore.
Finding an original MD 504 in good condition is becoming increasingly difficult, which is what makes machines like this so cool to have in a collection or a serious training facility.

There is gym equipment… and then there’s MedX.

If you know, you know. 👀

MedX machines are some of the rarest and most unique pieces of strength equipment you’ll find in a modern gym — and that’s not by accident.
MedX was founded in 1986 by Arthur Jones, the legendary mind behind Nautilus, with a very different goal in mind: design equipment around the human body, rather than simply putting weight on a machine.

The original development of MedX focused heavily on measuring strength, range of motion and rehabilitation — particularly the spine and neck — before that same engineering philosophy was brought into strength-training equipment.
So what makes MedX different?

🔹 Biomechanics first — the machines are designed around the way the body actually moves.

🔹 Variable resistance — specialised cam systems alter the resistance through the movement, rather than giving you the same mechanical challenge at every point.

🔹 Extremely low friction — the design minimises wasted resistance, allowing more of the load to be transferred directly to the muscles.

🔹 Incredibly precise loading — resistance can be adjusted in very small increments, allowing much more precise progression than conventional weight-stack machines.

🔹 Isolation — many MedX machines were designed to place the body in a very specific position and movement path, allowing individual muscles and muscle groups to be trained with remarkable precision.

And then there’s the biggest thing…

They’re rare.

You simply don’t see complete collections of genuine MedX equipment in many gyms anymore. Some of these machines represent a piece of strength-training engineering that has largely disappeared from the mainstream commercial gym world.

The Nautilus next generation overhead press

An amazing chain driven shoulder press with neutral hand position, this forces the elbows tighter into the torso and your pressing is directly overhead online most shoulder presses which our out in front slightly

This will work the tricep a lighter more than a traditional shoulder press but my god does it feel great!

It has a beautiful Aluminium Cam located at the bottom which means this piece has an increadible resistance profile to allow for a great contraction under less load at the top

One of my favourite shoukder presses and many of our members love it 💪😁
