You don't need to have a birth plan fully sorted to start preparing for birth.

In fact, one of the things I often hear from pregnant women is:

"I don't really know what I want yet."

And that's completely okay.

Birth preparation isn't about predicting exactly how your birth will unfold.

It's about building a little toolkit of things you can draw on when you need them.

That might be:

🌿 breathing techniques to help you stay grounded
🌿 movement and positions to support comfort and birthing
🌿 ways of using your body during labour
🌿 relaxation techniques
🌿 understanding how tension and breathing can affect how you feel
🌿 developing confidence in your ability to respond to what is happening

You can then take what feels useful to you and leave the rest.

That's one of the reasons I combine Prenatal Yoga & Birth Preparation rather than treating them as two separate things.

The yoga gives you time to move, breathe and connect with your changing body, while the birth preparation gives you practical tools and knowledge that you can gradually build throughout pregnancy.

My next 6-week series starts 17 September at Garth Community Centre in Bangor.

You don't need yoga experience, and you don't need to know what kind of birth you want.

You can simply come curious and start building your toolkit.

Sometimes the simplest feedback says it best:

One lovely mum recently left this 5⭐ review after attending my mum & baby postnatal yoga classes:

“The highlight of my week… Helen created such a calm and inclusive atmosphere. It’s so nice to be able to focus on yourself whilst being in the whole new world of becoming a mum. Baby noises are just part of the yoga practice, and you can feed, settle or change your baby whilst still feeling part of the class.”

Creating a space where mums and mums-to-be feel supported, rather than feeling they need to have a “perfect” baby or everything under control, has always been at the heart of what I do at Pink Iris Yoga.

September classes begin in one month:

🤰 Prenatal Yoga & Birth Preparation (17 Sept)

🤱 Mum & Baby Postnatal Yoga (18 Sept)

👶 NEW: Moving Babies Yoga (18 Sept)

Thank you to every mum who has taken the time to leave a review—it genuinely means so much to a small local business, and it helps other women find a class that feels right for them.

I've been thinking a lot lately about how easily rest becomes something we postpone.

We'll rest when work is quieter.
When the house is tidy.
When everyone else is looked after.
When everything on the to-do list is done.

But somehow, that moment rarely arrives.

One of the reasons I trained in restorative yoga was because I wanted to create a space where people could simply pause. A space where there is nothing to achieve, nowhere else to be, and no expectation other than to allow yourself to be supported.

It's been so lovely to see the Rest & Restore evenings resonate with so many people over the past couple of months, and I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who's joined me.

The next Rest & Restore evening takes place on Thursday 13 August in Bangor, with 3 spaces still available (link in comments)

If you've been feeling like you need a little breathing space, perhaps this is your gentle reminder that it's okay to make time for yourself.

Sometimes the most productive thing we can do is rest. 🤍

There are just 2 spaces remaining for my next Rest & Restore evening on 16 July. A 90minute evening session of Restorative Yoga, Breathwork & Deep Rest.

If you've been feeling overwhelmed, mentally busy or simply in need of some time for yourself, I'd love to welcome you.

I've noticed quite a few new faces here recently, so I thought I'd say hello 👋

I'm Helen, a yoga teacher specialising in pregnancy, postnatal & restorairve yoga and birth preparation here in Bangor, North Wales.

Most of my work centres around creating supportive spaces for women during times of transition, whether that's preparing for birth, navigating the early months with a baby, or simply finding opportunities to rest and reconnect.

If you're new here, I'd love to know:

Are you interested in prenatal or postpartum yoga or simply interested in yoga and wellbeing?

One of the most common things I hear from new mums thinking about coming to Postnatal Yoga is:

💭 "I'd love to come, but what if my baby cries?"
💭 "What if I need to feed them?"
💭 "What if I spend the whole class settling my baby?"

A recent mum who attended my classes shared this afterwards on my Google page:

✨ "The highlight of my week! I was a bit worried about attending a yoga session with my then 10 week old baby, but immediately Helen created such a calm and inclusive atmosphere that I felt more relaxed.

Helen creates an environment where baby noises are just part of the yoga practice, where you can feed, settle or change your baby whilst being within the session and part of a community of other mums who are in the same boat."

This is exactly what these classes are about.

Not having a perfectly settled baby.
Not getting yoga poses right.

Just having a welcoming space where you can support your recovery after birth, spend time with your baby through movement and connection, and meet other local mums who understand this stage of life.

My next Mum & Baby Postnatal Yoga series starts on 12th June at Garth Community Centre, Bangor.

If you've been thinking about joining but aren't sure, feel free to send me a message

One of the things I often hear from mums before joining postnatal yoga is a quiet worry about what the class will actually be like

Whether their baby will cry, need feeding, or need constant attention.

And honestly, that’s exactly what the space is designed for.

One mum recently shared on my Google page this after completing the course:

“I really liked that baby feeding, changing, holding upright or cuddling when necessary didn’t interrupt the flow of the class and was integrated and supported.”

This is something I care deeply about in my teaching, creating a space where you don’t have to hold everything together or feel like you need to “manage” your baby to be there.

Just come as you are, with whatever kind of day you and your baby are having

My next Postnatal Yoga Mum & Baby Yoga course begins 12 June in Bangor. I'd love to welcome your and your baby there. If you have any questions please drop me a comment, message me or all the details and booking are on my website (see bio)
