Day 2 out with David and Sammy we headed onto the East face of Tryfan to climb the classic rock 'Groved Arete'.

There was a cooling breeze keeping it pleasent and the team did great, enjoying the exposure of the last few pitches.

We finished the day off by continuing up to the (empty?!) Summit and descending West gulley.

Great to have been out again this weekend just gone with the team as they prep for their himalayan adventure this autumn.

Jamie McAnsh and Emma Elizabeth were out with us testing new equipment (bionic legs look to be a game changer!) and practicing moving over steep and technical terrain. Taking on some scrambles in the Ogwen Valley in the day.

After sizing up their expedition boots at Joe Brown Shops and a pit stop for food at Pete’s Eats | Llanberis we provided an evening workshop sharpening up their fixed line skills.

Thanks for the support in the day

As always an inspiring day at work with its own niche challenges to overcome that the team completely buys into.

Great stuff!

It is going to be Scorchio in the mountains this week! ☀️☀️☀️

🔵Start earlier, beat the heat! 🥵

⚫️Cover up! A sunshirt and a cap are my go to.

⚪️I carry a litre of frozen juice in one water bottle and a half litre bottle of chilled juice too. Means I always have a cooled drink and stops me drinking it all in the first half hour!
But carry more thsan this if you are a big drinker on the hill.

🔵Suncream! LifeJacket Skin Protection is reccomended.

⚫️Plan to visit those Crags with a northern aspect that are usually too cold and damp to visit.

⚪️Scale down your ambitions. As much as it is tempting to try and get out to maximise use of the nice weather and long daylight hours. Maybe a smaller day that is less hard effort in the strong heat will be a more enjoyable day.

What are your top tips to beat the heat?

The weather has been like playing a roulette here in North Wales this week.....

But looks to be changing for the better next week!

Hopefully get some stunners like we had on our last Skye course last month

Booking a summer rock climbing course is one of the fastest ways to fast-track your progression from an indoor climber (or total beginner) to a confident, independent outdoor rock climber.

Indoor climbing is structured, predictable, and clean. Outdoor climbing is none of those things. A summer course bridges this gap by focusing on the critical safety skills you can't learn on plastic.

Whether that is;
🔵an introduction to outdoor climbing
⚫️learning skills needed to safely climb on seacliffs
⚪️learning to lead outdoor trad or sport climbs
🔵developing multi pitch climbing skills

We have availability throughout summer, with dates detailed above and more!

Our courses are private and bespoke, meaning the courses are centred around your needs and ambitions.

The weather finally turned for the better for our last course this May on Skye.

A 3 day window of sun coincided with a visit from regular , giving us a great opportunity to attempt a traverse of the Cuillin.

A great day on the southern end saw us at An Dorus for fantastic conditions for an overnight bivi. Ed couldn't have had it much better for his first bivi night out!

The following morning, happy with the effort he had put in on day one and having loved his brilliant experience staying on the ridge overnight, Ed decided to head back to the valley for a morning Icecream at the campsite and avoid the heat of the day on the ridge.

A great day traversing with a memorable night up high on the ridge.

The mountains are not always about completing objectives.

Its just as much about having great adventures, making brilliant journeys and sharing memorable experiences with friends.

Thanks for joining me for this Ed.
