Match Report | vs Carryduff Colts II 💙⚽️

Last game of the season — and what a way to finish! 🔥⚽️

Carryduff Colts certainly didn't make it easy for us, and we struggled to settle into the game early on. We were turning over possession too often, which put ourselves under unnecessary pressure.

Once we settled down, though, the girls started to create some fantastic attacking opportunities and kept pushing until we found the breakthrough.

The opening goal was a brilliant team effort. Grace showed fantastic pace and determination to keep the ball in play, while Molly continued her run and calmly tapped the ball home. A lovely goal created through pure effort and desire. 👏🏻⚽️

The second was another great attacking move, with a perfectly weighted through ball allowing Molly to turn quickly and make her run. The Carryduff keeper made a great save, but Sophie followed up with a perfectly lofted effort over the keeper and into the net. ⚽️👏🏻

At 2-0 up, we unfortunately switched off. A communication error and being out of shape allowed Carryduff to punish us with two goals in quick succession to bring the game level at 2-2. A mistake we know we shouldn't be making at this stage of the season, but credit to the girls for how they responded.

We were awarded a penalty for handball but unfortunately couldn't convert. Rather than let that knock us, we went straight back on the attack and produced two excellent passages of play, resulting in two goals back-to-back to restore our lead at 4-2. 💪🏻

Carryduff kept battling, and as the legs started to tire, the girls had to dig deep. They showed tremendous resilience, stayed together and continued to work hard to keep control of the game.

Then, in the dying minutes, we found the back of the net once more to make it 5-2 and secure the win! 🙌🏻💙

What a way to finish the season!
The girls thoroughly deserved the victory and have taken good football to the opposition throughout the season. 💪🏻

For the majority of this squad, this has been their first experience of senior football, and the development we've seen from the start of the season to now has been immense. The progress, confidence, teamwork and belief they've shown week after week has been fantastic to watch.

A huge well done to every single player who has contributed to this season. 👏🏻💙

Match Report | vs Ballymacash Rangers 💙⚽️

A home game against the newly crowned league champions, Ballymacash Rangers, was always going to be a tough test — and the girls certainly rose to the occasion. 👏🏻

A wonder strike and some confusion at the back saw Ballymacash take an early 2-0 lead, but the girls settled into the game and started to play some really confident football against a strong and physical side.

We moved the ball well, created some good chances and remained strong defensively. The remainder of the first half was fairly even, with us arguably creating the better opportunities going forward. We finally got the goal our play deserved just before half-time to make it 2-1. ⚽️

The second half continued in much the same way, with both teams battling hard and creating opportunities. As the game wore on, our fitness and hard work continued to show, and we kept pushing for the equaliser.

Ballymacash were reduced to ten players following a straight red card, giving us even more encouragement to push forward. Unfortunately, despite our efforts and the chances created, we couldn't find that all-important equaliser.

The biggest compliment to this team. We're disappointed to lose to the league winners. That shows just how far this group has progressed throughout the season. 💙👏🏻

Match Report | Away vs Berlin Swiftettes 💙⚽️

Our final away match of the season took us to Berlin Swiftettes, and what an entertaining game it was!

The girls started quickly, applying early pressure which resulted in us winning a penalty. Hannah calmly stepped up and converted to give us the perfect start. 👏🏻⚽️

Both teams then settled into the game, creating a few half chances without finding the net. We eventually doubled our lead after a lovely flowing move was finished off with great composure.

Berlin pulled one back, but the girls continued to create chances and were rewarded with another goal just before half-time to take a 3-1 lead into the break.

The second half continued in much the same way, with both teams pushing forward at every opportunity. Two goals in the space of a minute — one for each team — made it 4-2 to us.

Berlin then put us under sustained pressure and an own goal brought the scoreline closer. The girls had to dig deep as both teams continued to attack in search of the next goal.

With just a few minutes remaining, it was our girls who found the decisive goal to seal a fantastic 5-3 victory and bring all three points back to Bangor! 🙌🏻💙

A very entertaining match with plenty of attacking football from both sides. Credit to Berlin Swiftettes, who made us work right until the final whistle.
