Tonight's September Members' Meeting where we are to enjoy a taster T'ai Chi session with Adam. How delightful this will be for all members and which all members must be looking forward to.

Our Summer Garden Party at The Rookery, Adderbury, last Thursday, 6 August, generously hosted by Pauline B. in her lovely garden there.

Tables and chairs, the summer house and pergola were set out to perfection, with refreshment ready and waiting.

Members attended with their cutlery and cups as requested, and everyone brought a plate of food to share. And, as ever, a delicious and attractive range of nibbles, quiches, salads were brought to the table. Dessert options included luscious tortes, fresh strawberries and cream, fruit tartlets, profiteroles, iced cakes and biscuits.

A wonderful feast for all members who enjoyed an afternoon of friendly chatter and scrumptious feasting and sincere, renewed thanks are given here to Pauline on behalf of everyone who attended # # #

Members are now very much looking forward to our August Summer Garden Party at Pauline B's Garden at The Rookery, High Street, Adderbury.

Please bring a plate of finger food, cutlery and a cup.

It is bound to be a lovely afternoon.

Our Member's Meeting last week when Ian Myson brought us the story of Doreen Warriner OBE, humanitarian, Holocaust Hero, academic, farmer and member of a local farming family, on whose land the Warriner School of Bloxham was later built.

Doreen became involved with efforts to rescue children and adults during WW2 and in particular from Prague on the eve of that war, with her dedicated team and the help of Nicholas Winterton (stockbroker and Humanitarian) evacuated over 600 children to Britain. Doreen was appointed head of the British Committee for Refugees in Czechoslovakia and her team members were Trevor Chadwick, Beatrice Wellington and Martin Blake.

After WW2, Doreen resumed her academic career, becoming very involved with economic development of Germany, Eastern Germany and then globally. Also land reform.

She was awarded an OBE in 1941 for "services in 1938 and 1939 in connection with refugees leaving Czechoslovakia" - from The Story of Doreen Warriner OBE from The Warriner School online site) She died in 1972 and is buried in St. Mary's churchyard in Bloxham.

Ian Myson presented his talk with clips of the film "One Life" showcasing the work of Nicholas Winterton and that of Doreen Warriner in Prague.

We are all looking forward to our July Members' Meeting tonight and to welcoming our guest speaker, Ian Myson, with his presentation - Doreen Warriner: Unsung Humanitarian Hero -which we are sure will be very interesting. Thank you Ian.

We shall also enjoy our business session and yummy refreshments and cakes to round off a very good summer's evening entertainment.

And further apologies for my lack of content and delay but my computer has been off-colour recently, this last month in fact, and is only now being made better. So I am almost ready to go again, hopefully after this weekend, when I shall hope to be able to post again and keep everyone up-to-date on all present and forthcoming events # # #

Our splendid evening with Pearl Lady, Frances Carlaw, who entertained all Members so royally and enthusiastically on Thursday 4 June, with her lively presentation, deep knowledge of and wonderful pearl display plus her collection of Art Deco jewellery. All for our fundraising evening for the purchase of a new Defibrillator # # #

Our Open Meeting tonight Thursday 4 June by Pearl Lady Frances Carlaw, who promises a fascinating and amusing peek into the world of beautiful jewellery and together with her collection of Art Deco jewellery, a brilliant evening to look forward to and also a fundraising evening for the purchase of a Defibrillator # # #

Keeping Safe Online presentation by Michelle Johnson, highlighting the need to pause, verify and talk/check up when faced with any possible threat of dire action that pops up in your emails, if you don't immediately pay for more storage space via a renewal action. Check who is sending this threat. Check if you are covered already and if your cover is up to date, consider sending the offending email to a fraud investigating agency for them to take action.

Only vigilance and action will keep us safe. It is so easy to be taken in by such persuasive and fraudulent action.
