We are aware of competitors' concerns regarding the ground conditions for the BRC Howden National Horse Trials Championships.

The team at Swalcliffe is doing everything they can to present the best possible going for all competitors this weekend.

The site is predominantly sand, and both the cross-country and dressage areas have been aggravated. Aggravating helps to break up hard, compacted soil as it lifts the turf slightly to relieve surface hardness.

The new show jumping arena has been watered regularly and aggravated.

A ground report will be issued on Thursday following the completion of final preparations on Thursday afternoon.

In similar conditions last year, we were delighted with the ground report, and the team are working hard to achieve the same standard again this weekend.

Today we pause to remember Kerry and Sophie. As a mark of respect, a two-minute silence will be held at 12 noon across all British Eventing and British Show Jumping fixtures. We invite you to join us in remembrance of Kerry and Sophie and to support their families, friends and everyone affected.

In recent days our community has demonstrated remarkable compassion kindness and respect. These events will undoubtedly have a lasting impact. Over the past few days, we have intentionally paused our usual communications as a mark of respect for the families of Sophie and Kerry during this devastating time. They remain very much in our thoughts.

As we look ahead to a number of important fixtures and championships, we will begin to share more updates from across the sport in a measured and respectful way, while continuing to keep Sophie and Kerry, and all those affected by this tragedy, at the forefront of our minds.
