A lot more relaxed & more confident, now no longer needing the reassurance of a second handler at his head. He’s also becoming much straighter.
We’ve introduced incline work and different water depths, and he’s taken everything in his stride 😇

Beating the heat 🌡️ ☀️🐴
It’s been a week of early starts, early paddock turnout, chilled water treadmill workouts, regular cold hosing and baths, and hydrating lunchtime mashes on repeat this week 💦🧊🐴 😋 🧂🚿

A big Thankyou to the team for going the extra mile & early starts to ensure all horses are well cared for , it’s been icepops, cold drinks showers & pool time , keeping the girls going this week 🍦 🥤🚿 🏊‍♀️💦

We are often asked:
Q: I am not sure how my horse will react to the water treadmill introduction ?
A: Most horses adapt remarkably quickly, even the more nervous ones.

Our water treadmill introduction isn’t a set in stone , same method for all.
We are always led, react & adopt to the individual horse in front of us.

Occasionally we do get a horse like this chap , who needs a little more time & reassurance & that’s absolutely fine .
If you build trust & confidence in the initial stages, the rest progresses rather quickly 😊

It’s not about throwing them straight into "work" or panicking that they are not straight; it’s about making it a nice time, gentle guidance & reassurance, getting them used to the environment, sounds ( & yes, poo net); that initial patience & confidence building will payback quickly & in the longer term plan. Get it wrong or rush it & it’s likely they will never reap the full benefits of the water treadmill going forward.

This boy will be absolutely fine, he has already improved in confidence in just 2 days; follow his progress with us over the next couple of weeks .
