What a brilliant session with the ladies from Pegasus Hockey Club! 💪🏑
It was an absolute pleasure to spend some time with this fantastic group, teaching some practical self-defence skills — with plenty of laughs along the way!
There was lots of women’s empowerment, confidence-building, teamwork and probably a few bruises to remember us by! 😂🥊
The ladies threw themselves into everything (quite literally in some cases! 😂), gave it their all and were great craic from start to finish.
Thank you for coming to Esteem Ladies Self Defence Banbridge — we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did, and we’re already looking forward to seeing you all again! 💪❤️

Back again this Thursday for more training, 8pm to 9.30pm.
Our training takes all the best bits from all fighting styles, condenses it down to simplify the syllabus and removes the rules, allowing it to be practical for real life situations. We don't train for competitions, we train for the violence of dangerous attacks including dealing with weapons.
Beginners always welcome👊

We are absolutely thrilled and delighted for our ladies instructor and all involved for what they achieved and do.
It has been a journey for Tracey since she first came through the doors of Esteem self defence Banbridge. From her first lesson to beating up the lads🤣 and then gaining her instructor certificate. It took incredible strength and courage to begin her journey and her story i hope will help others to begin the journey of self defence.
❤️Meet the Team❤️ Tracey Tedford
Co-Founder & Director, Voice & Justice Alliance
Tracey Tedford is Co-Founder and Director of Voice & Justice Alliance, bringing together a professional background in human resources and recruitment with years of frontline experience supporting victims of domestic abuse, coercive control and systemic failures across the justice, safeguarding and welfare systems.
Tracey's journey into this work was shaped by her own lived experience as a survivor of a severely abusive relationship and by navigating the very systems designed to protect victims. Rather than allowing those experiences to define her, she chose to use them as the foundation for creating meaningful change. While she cannot change what happened to her, she is determined to ensure others receive the protection, support and justice they deserve.
As an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA), Witness Service volunteer and trauma-informed practitioner, Tracey has spent years standing alongside survivors in courts, consultations and some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Throughout that time, she has seen reforms introduced and legislation enacted, yet too often witnessed the same systemic failures repeated.
Her ambition is to move beyond short-term fixes and help deliver the structural, evidence-led change that improves outcomes for victims and communities.
Through Voice & Justice Alliance, Tracey combines professional expertise, lived experience and an unwavering commitment to human rights, accountability and collaboration. She is passionate about ensuring that the voices of those who have been failed by public systems are not only heard, but translated into practical policy and lasting reform.
Outside of her professional role, Tracey serves as a governor at three schools, where safeguarding is at the heart of her work.
She is also a qualified ladies' self-defence instructor, empowering women to rebuild confidence and independence following abuse and other crimes. A dedicated practitioner of Krav Maga, she also enjoys live music and has a passion for tattoos.
At home, she shares her life with her much-loved tortoises, whose calm and unhurried nature provides the perfect balance to the pace of her work advocating for others.
