Ruairí Óg CLG yous don't half do drama!

Absolutely cracking game between Ruairí Óg CLG and Slaughtneil in the Ulster GAA hurling semi final! Some great hurling!

Nice to get up to Corrigan Park today for the game organised by . We had an entertaining game and got to meet a few stars! Well done to all involved in organising a great event for a great cause!

Did you know we started making hurls 45 years ago!

My father Joe (highlighted in the 1976 Loughgiel Intermediate team), a joiner by trade, began to make a few for his team mates as a pastime. Early recipients included Loughgiel greats PJ O'Mullan and Goalkeeper Niall Patterson (To dads right) who would go on to captain the Loughgiel senior team to their famous first All Ireland win in 1983. In recent years I was gifted a hurl from Mickey Scullion (No relation, 4th from left in back row), one which my father made for him way back then!

I'll be talking about this and more when I come to this Sunday 17th November from 9am to 1pm. I'll have a selection of my hurls with me for sale as well as grips and sliotars.

I will be at the centre from 9am to 1pm on Sunday 17th November, where I will share the story of Scullion Hurls and showcase the craft of hurl making, which we have been performing for 45 years! Demonstrations will take place throughout the morning so drop by to catch a glimpse of this rare and ancient craft.
