Bala continue title charge with dominant 8-wicket victory

Clwb Criced Y Bala strengthened their grip at the top of North Wales Cricket League Division Four with another outstanding performance, cruising to an eight-wicket victory away at Marchwiel Hall.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Marchwiel’s innings couldn’t have started any worse. Bala struck immediately, with Jack White and Jason Jones removing the opening batters inside the first two overs to leave the home side reeling at 2-2.

From there, Bala’s bowlers kept the pressure on throughout. Jack White produced another superb spell, finishing with 3-18 from 8 overs, while captain Jason Jones (2-14) and Nathan Aldridge (2-9) ensured wickets continued to fall at regular intervals. Amrithanand Anil and Rubel Ahmed also chipped in with a wicket apiece as Marchwiel were bowled out for 113 in 29.4 overs.

Needing 114 for victory, Bala made light work of the chase. Rubel Ahmed anchored the innings with an unbeaten 51, while Nathan Aldridge played a blistering knock of 26 from just 15 balls to give Bala the perfect platform. Although two wickets fell, captain Jason Jones calmly guided the side home with an unbeaten 21, sealing victory in just 13.5 overs.

The comprehensive win earned Bala 14 points, maintaining the momentum in the race for promotion. With every point now crucial, the team continues to set the standard at the top of the table, delivering another complete performance with both bat and ball.

This Saturday sees another huge test for Clwb Criced Y Bala 1st XI as they travel to Marchwiel Hall to take on Marchwiel & Wrexham CC 2nd XI.

With just 9 league matches remaining, every point is becoming increasingly important in what is proving to be one of the closest promotion races in Division 4.

Just two points separate the top three, while Saturday’s opponents, Marchwiel & Wrexham, remain well placed in sixth and are more than capable of causing problems on home soil.

Bala know that another strong all-round performance is needed if they are to keep the pressure on the teams above and stay firmly in the hunt for promotion. Every run, every wicket and every point could make the difference over the final nine games of the season.

Clwb Criced Y Bala continued their impressive league campaign with another hard-fought victory at Castle Park, overcoming second-placed Llandudno CC 2nds by four wickets in a match that tested both skill and character.

Winning the toss, Llandudno elected to bat first, but Bala’s bowlers quickly put them under pressure. Jack White produced an outstanding spell, ripping through the top order to finish with remarkable figures of 4 wickets for just 11 runs from 6.1 overs, setting the tone for the innings.

Excellent support came from Nathan Aldridge and Will Bell, who both claimed 2 wickets, while Amrithanand Anil and Rubel Ahmed picked up one apiece to bowl Llandudno out for 158 in 36.1 overs.

Chasing 159, Bala made a confident start. Rubel Ahmed (26) and Nathan Aldridge (24) laid solid foundations before Jack White anchored the innings superbly, producing a calm and unbeaten 50 to guide the chase.

At 134-3, Bala looked to be cruising towards victory, but cricket can change in an instant. A dramatic middle-order collapse saw three wickets fall in a single over, with nerves beginning to creep into the home dressing room as Llandudno sensed an unlikely comeback.

Despite the sudden collapse, Bala held their composure when it mattered most. Jack White remained unbeaten at one end finishing on a great 50 Not Out, while Daf Hughes kept his cool to finish 9 not out, steering the side home with 38 balls to spare.

It was another performance full of resilience and determination from the Lakesiders. While the collapse will provide lessons for the batting unit, the ability to regroup under pressure and still secure maximum points highlights the character and togetherness within the squad.

A superb all-round team performance keeps Bala’s excellent season moving in the right direction as they remain firmly in the race at the top of Division 4.

With 10 league matches remaining, Clwb Criced Y Bala lead the way at the top of the table on 128 points, holding the narrowest of advantages over both Gresford CC 2nds and this weekend’s opponents, Llandudno CC 2nds, who sit just one point behind.

Clwb Criced y Bala win by 109 runs (15–0)

Clwb Criced y Bala produced a superb all-round display to secure a commanding 15–0 victory over Carmel & District CC 2nd XI with a comprehensive 109-run win at Pen-y-Gelli.

After winning the toss, captain Jason Jones elected to bat first. On a wicket offering assistance to the bowlers, Bala worked hard to build partnerships and reached a competitive 166 all out from 39.5 overs.

The batting effort was built around valuable contributions throughout the order. Nathan Aldridge top-scored with 24, while Tommy Hughes (22), Will Bell (21), Amrith Anil (18), Rubel Ahmed (16), Karan Vasani (15)* and Josh Mackintosh (14) all played important innings to ensure Bala had a strong total to defend.

With the ball, Bala were outstanding from the very first over.

Rubel Ahmed stole the show with a sensational spell of 5 wickets for just 9 runs from 6 overs, ripping through the Carmel batting lineup and putting the home side firmly on the back foot.

At the other end, Nathan Aldridge was equally impressive, claiming 4 wickets for only 7 runs from 5.2 overs, while Jack White chipped in with the remaining wicket to complete an excellent bowling performance.

Bala’s fielding matched the quality of the bowling, with sharp catching and energetic work in the field ensuring Carmel never recovered. The hosts were bowled out for just 57, giving Bala a deserved 109-run victory.

The result sees Bala take the maximum 15 league points, making it another excellent day for the Lakesiders.
