🎫 Raffle Prizes Needed 🎫

With the club awards night taking place on Saturday, we are looking for any raffle prizes that can be donated.

If you have any prizes to donate, please either bring them down the track this week (tomorrow or Thursday) and hand them to Clare or bring them with you on the evening of the awards.

All money made from the raffle ticket sales will go back into the club.

It's almost time for our club awards evening!

£10 individual and £26 Family (3+) - bank transfer preferred. Cash/card payments can be taken at the track on Tuesday/Thursday
Food : Chinese Buffet ( there will be options for, vegans, vegetarians, and gluten intolerances. The meat dishes are kosher and halal friendly)

Bingo: -books will be on sale at the door at £5 each (bring your bingodabber)

Takings will be split 50:50, winners and club

❗ Just over 1 week to go! ❗

There is still time to sign up for the the VOAAC marathon challenge on Saturday 3rd October.

So what is the marathon challenge? It's a team event, where runners complete 200m efforts in a relay format to reach the total marathon distance while trying to beat the series of records. All ages are invited to take part, whether a junior, senior or parent.

As with last year, we ask that participating juniors raise a minimum of £5 and seniors and parents raise a minimum of £10; any amount above this would also be gratefully received.

Last year we had over 50 juniors, seniors and parents who took part. It would be great to replicate that this year and raise a fantastic amount for Wheelpower.

You can also order some new kit and merchandise from our official kit provider, Chiltern Sports, who will be present.

We look forward to seeing everyone take part and show the fantastic community spirit we have at Vale of Aylesbury.

🏑 Jo Returns! 🏑

Our awards night is fast approaching and we have a special guest speaker lined up.

Former Vale club member turned hockey international Jo Pinner (née Hunter) will be attending.

Jo was with the club as a junior and competed regularly in the sprints and middle distance events at league matches, county championships and English Schools Championships and she also holds some club records to this day. She has gone on to have a very distinguished hockey career for both England and Great Britain, securing medals at the EuroHockey Championships and Commonwealth Games.

Tickets can be purchased on training nights at the gate.

📅 Two Events, One Date For Your Diary! 📅

At the beginning of October, the club will have two events happening on the same day!

Marathon Challenge 2026

The club are undertaking a Marathon Challenge again this year and it will be held on Saturday 3rd October 2026, between 9am and 1pm.

The event will be hosted at Stoke Mandeville Stadium and begin at 9am. The event is for any club athlete across all age groups and training groups. We also welcome parents to come and support the challenge as well.

The event will be raising money for Wheelpower, a charity that is based at Stoke Mandeville Stadium and has been providing opportunities for people with physical impairments to take part in sport for over 75 years.

Details on how to sign up to the Marathon Challenge will be provided in the coming days.

CLUB AWARDS NIGHT

This years club awards night will also be taking place on Saturday 3rd October but will be based at Rivets Sports & Social Club and the evening will begin at 7pm.

🆘 Match Officials Required 🆘

Every time our athletes attend a YDL league match, or any other athletics competition, Officials ensure that the event takes place.
A competition cannot happen without Officials.

When a team cannot provide a full squad of Officials at any YDL match (min 5 Officials), that team risks having points deducted from their match score. Not something we want to happen when athletes have worked hard as a team to gain as many points as possible.

Qualifying is simple. Attend a virtual course, varying from 2 to 4 hours, often split across 2 evenings. Complete self-paced online modules for Safeguarding and First-aid / Health & Safety, complete a UK DBS and upload a photo for your licence.

The cost of your qualification is refunded by the Club and a VoAAC Officials T-shirt is provided to be worn at competitions.

All we ask is that you attend club league matches as often as you can to support both YDL age groups and the Seniors if possible.
You will be joining a friendly group of existing Club Officials, creating new friends, who will encourage and support you throughout your journey.

You will also be offered the opportunity to support Schools athletics and other events throughout the year.

You never know, this could be the start of a new hobby.
