Sometimes the most important thing we can do is slow down and breathe. π
Breathing is something we do without thinking β but taking time to breathe with awareness can have a powerful effect on how we feel.
In this new Restorative Pilates On Demand session, Iβll guide you through different breathing techniques designed to help you slow down, tune into your body and tune out some of the noise around you.
A little time to pause, settle your system and restore a sense of balance.
Perfect when life feels busy, your mind wonβt switch off, or you simply need a few quiet moments for yourself.
New Breathing session β available now in the Restorative section of Pilates On Demand. π

βοΈ Iβm officially on holiday! βοΈ
Just a little reminder that the Studio is now closed for my summer break and Pilates classes start back from Monday 7th September.
Iβm looking forward to seeing everyone back on their mats in September, refreshed and ready for a brand new course.
In the meantime, Iβll be doing my very best to switch off and enjoy some sunshine, sea and relaxation! πβοΈπΉ
Have a wonderful rest of the summer everyone.

24 years of Pilatesβ¦ and still learning. π
At the beginning of my Pilates career, I actually trained twice.
After completing my first qualification, I quickly realised that I didn't feel I had enough knowledge or guidance to deal confidently with some of the problems clients were bringing to me. So I went back and retrained with Polestar Pilates UK.
Little did I know that was really just the beginning of my Pilates training journey!
Twenty-four years later, I'm still learning. Our understanding of the body continues to evolve, research and movement science move on, and there are always new ideas to explore and existing skills to update.
And every stage of my career has added another layer β from my early years in dance, through gym instruction and sports massage training, to becoming a professionally qualified dance teacher and eventually building my career in Pilates.
I've also had the enormous pleasure of working and learning alongside physiotherapists and other movement and healthcare professionals over the years, as well as learning from the many different bodies I've taught.
I'm certainly older and hopefully a little wiser than when I started! But one thing hasn't changed:
There is always something more to learn. π

Sometimes your body just needs a little time to soften and let go. π
This gentle Focus Session uses slow, mindful fascia release to ease tension around the sacrum, lower back and pelvis.
No rushing, no pushing β just time to breathe, release and unwind.
Releasing the Sacrum β Out today on Pilates On Demand.

Rest is productive too. π
We often think looking after our bodies means doing more β more exercise, more stretching, more strengthening, more steps.
But sometimes what we really need is to stop.
I'm taking my own advice this weekend and enjoying a few days in Cornwall β time to slow down, spend time with family, walk on the beach and recharge.
Rest gives both body and mind time to recover, reset and come back refreshed.
Sometimes doing less is exactly what we need.

Summer is a time for slowing down a little β but that doesn't mean we have to stop moving altogether! βοΈ
A few simple stretches or some gentle mobility can feel wonderful, especially after long journeys, days out or simply spending more time sitting and relaxing.
If you're missing your regular Pilates sessions, roll out your mat at home, choose a class from Pilates On Demand, or simply take a few minutes to stretch and move in a way that feels good.
A little movement can go a long way. π
