SOTRG is managed by Sandy Paterson who hold the Winter Mountaineering and Climbing qualification (WMCI). As well as Sandy you are likely to meet Jonty Mills, Ian Stewart and Dave Chapman if you join us for some training, who all hold the WMCI and are experienced mountaineers as well as first class instructors. With the whole of Scotland to choose from we can take you to some breath-taking places for your adventure.

Kevin was out over the weekend doing some Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor Prep. A day of personal navigation and teaching navigation and then a day of scrambling and mountaineering.

There was a little rain for day 3 and 4 of our Mountain Leader Training but certainly not enough to dampen spirits. A hill day developing navigation, leadership and environmental knowledge and introducing confidence roping. Then day 4 had us looking at managing a group in steep ground on a journey and discussing the scope of the award.
A great few days, now time to prep for expedition.

Great first few days on our most recent Mountain Leader Training. Navigation, leadership and environmental knowledge where on the cards for day 1 then on day 2 week introduced ropework, burn crossings, packaging, common medical issues and water hazards.
A packed first few days and a great bunch of people to be on the hill with.

A few more days climbing and scrambling with Ian. Escaping the damp with a visit to Cummingston (via a cafe stop!), Sneachda Fiacail and then a skills day on the Ciste Crag. So good to see Ian improve and moving well and n steep consequential terrain.

James spent 5 days with Myra looking at planning routes, navigating them, dealing with emergencies and enjoying the stunning scenery around Strathspey. What a great way to spend a week.
