U10 Girls vs U9 Yellows

Football was the winner tonight! ⚽️🙌

The girls were fantastic—strong in both attack and defence—making it definitely a strong contest and a great test for the boys. 👏

Some real good experience gained, and the support for both teams was fantastic to see.

For the boys it was very different playing 7v7 with an extra body in defence, which we handled really well. The extra role in the middle was a new one to us all, but a great learning curve for the lads.

Hearing some good communication from both teams out on the pitch was really great to see! 🗣️⚽️

When community comes together to help each other out there is no better feeling.

We asked for help last week as we had been kindly donated a shipping container. The shipping container was vital for us as a club to safely store our football tournament equipment along with winter training equipment that we use.

Port of Workington kindly gave us the 40ft container, kitted out with full electrics and an office. However, we had to transport it off their site ourselves.

Step up Lawsons Haulage Ltd, they promptly answered our call knowing the importance of the asset to enable us to keep up our excellent service to your children. They had the job boxed off in one swift afternoon, collected, transported and expertly sited at Aspatria RUFC.

A perfect example of helping out.

Thanks so much to both companies, we will be forever grateful.

It was a dissapointing afternoon for our U18s yesterday as we lost 0-3 to Cockermouth Cosmos.

Our second defeat of the season but our first poor performance. With some big players missing through work commitments it was a great chance for some others to step up.

We started off very sloppy gifting the away side a very early goal with some crazy decision making the ball was delivered to M. Towers who was able to round the keeper and slot away, a neat goal from the Maryport Man. The half throughout was very scrappy with not a great deal of football being played on the St Mungo’s surface. Unfortunately, there was another gifted goal to Cockermouth before half time with some choice passing out of the back it was pounced on and fed early to M. Towers who was able to smash it home, a well taken goal by the Maryport Man.

HT: 0-2

The second half was much better in terms of decision making Cockermouth never threaten once as we were defensively sound but we just couldn’t get the ball to stick up top. A free kick was awarded to Cockermouth midway though and was brilliantly struck by Z. Hetherington to give Cockermouth a 0-3 lead. Some free kick by the Whitehaven Man.

The game finished scrappy not many chances for either team thereafter and ended

FT: 0-3

A very disappointing performance given our energetic and aggressive start to the season. The lads know it’s not acceptable.

We will be looking for a reaction next week.
