Our classes are fun, inspiring and encourage everyone to develop to their full potential. Classes held at various venues in Ashtead for students from 3 years to adult in ballet, tap, modern and, for older students, body conditioning and pointe work. Ashtead Ballet School has a reputation for providing a happy, nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to reach their own potential, promoting confidence and hopefully creating lifelong memories! We aim to instil a love of dance into everyone, with quality teaching delivered in a fun way. Our teachers are qualified with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD). We offer progression through exams for everyone who wants this and a whole school show every other year at a local theatre - the highlight of their year for many of our students! We want everyone to look back with pleasure on their dance school days, whether they go on to further training or not. We believe that learning to dance is beneficial for everyone, promoting confidence, a sense of achievement, physical strength and grace. Structured RAD Ballet | Ashtead Ballet School

🩰Classical ballet asks a lot of young bodies, which is why we strictly follow the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus. The RAD framework isn't about rushing students onto their toes or pushing for dramatic split leaps before their muscles are ready. It’s an anatomical blueprint - deliberately pacing every exercise so that strength, posture, and technique build safely over time.

When children train this way, they don't just learn how to dance; they learn about working towards a goal and watching their hard work pay off.

We are proud to say that all of our teachers are RAD trained, qualified and fully insured.

😊 To a three-year-old, a simple silk scarf isn't just a piece of fabric - it's a flying bird, a floating cloud, or a magical shield.

In our early years pre-school classes, we channel that organic imagination to teach the fundamental building blocks of dance. Children are learning spatial awareness as they move around the room, active listening as they match their movement to a musical tempo, and gross motor coordination through play.

Rediscover Movement with Low-impact adult ballet | Ashtead Ballet School

🩰If your usual routine feels repetitive, a weekly hour at the barre might be exactly what you need.

Our adult ballet sessions at Ashtead Ballet School strip away the intimidation. There are no performance pressure and no formal exams. Instead, we use classical ballet technique to work on core physical strength, joint mobility, and posture.

What to expect:

Better Balance: Deep core work that improves everyday stability.

Mental Reset: Concentrating on movement patterns gives your brain a total break from the workday.

Gentle Conditioning: Low-impact exercise that builds long-term mobility.

Suitable for total beginners as well as those returning to dance after years away.
We have both a beginner/improvers class and an advanced class!

Long before a child learns formal ballet positions, they need to master the basics: balance, spatial awareness, and rhythm.

Our early years classes for ages 3+ are designed to turn fundamental motor skills into an engaging, structured activity. We use music and simple movement patterns to help young children learn body control, practice active listening, and burn off energy in a positive environment.

It’s a gentle, supportive way to introduce your child to a real class setting before school or nursery routines start.
