**WOODHORN 7-1 DUBMIRE**

Woodhorn hit 7 past visitors Dubmire WMC on Saturday to move up to 3rd in the Table 3 points behind the leaders with a game in hand

In a frantic opening 15 minutes Stevey Young opened the scoring before Darren Riddell, Steve Frater with a Thunderbastard and a fine finish from Lee Scott put us 4 up then Ian Carr added another shortly before half time to leave us 5 up and the game effectively over

In the 2nd half Woodhorn rang the changes utilising the whole squad and despite a spirited performance from the away side Riddell completed his hat trick before a consolation from Dubmire

Riddell was rightly named MOM and was unplayable on the day but following a few recent sluggish starts the fast pace demanded from management in the opening exchanges proved decisive

Despite a 3-3 draw Woodhorn went through to the next round via a 3-1 penalty shoot victory vs CSSC Darsley Park last night

Woodhorn eased past Shildon at the Welfare on Saturday thanks to a double from Ian Carr and a Steven Young strike.

A goalless 1st half was tightly contested with chances at a premium but with a strong squad Woodhorn made changes at half time and were rewarded when Carr’s cross-cum-shot flew into the top corner from the left hand side. Turning up the pressure Woodhorn hit the woodwork 4 times before Young’s fine finish and breakaway from Carr sealed the win.

A good win against a traditionally strong Shildon saw Woodhorn move into the top half of the table.

DEFEAT FOR WOODHORN

Woodhorn deservedly went down 4-1 to league leaders Pelton Crown Inn on Saturday.

Despite creating several chances of our own in the 1st 20 mins Pelton missed a succession of good openings before finally going ahead after 25 mins and soon after doubled up with a stunning 25 yard volley that went in off the bar leaving the previously inspired Woodhorn goalkeeper with no chance. In fairness as good a goal as you’ll see at this level.

The game evened out at this point with both teams looking dangerous but the score remained the same with Pelton’s giant keeper increasingly busy.

Into the 2nd half after ringing the changes Woodhorn continued on the front foot and pulled a goal back with a superb finish from skipper Gall following a neat backheel from Riddell and then missed a chance to tie things up with 15 minutes left. After this Pelton who had looked dangerous on the break put the game out of sight with a quick fire double on the break to kill the game off.

Had we taken our chances at 2-1 then things may have been different but Pelton were worthy winners on the day.
