Queen Mary Sailing Club is hosting a Women’s Watersports Open Day on Friday 18th September, offering a welcoming and relaxed opportunity for women and girls aged 8 and over to try a variety of watersports.
Half-price taster sessions (£22.50) will be available in dinghy sailing, RS21 keelboat sailing, windsurfing and dinghy racing, with experienced instructors on hand and all equipment provided. The event is designed for all ability levels, so no previous experience is required.
In addition to the taster sessions, participants can enjoy a range of other activities, including a "Rock Up & Race" dinghy racing session in the afternoon, keelboating with club members for qualified sailors, free paddleboarding (subject to availability), and an informal speed challenge.
There is also free access for sailors, windsurfers and wing-surfers who wish to bring their own equipment and enjoy time on the water.
The day is intended to be as much about socialising as taking part in activities. A BBQ will be available to purchase from between 12pm and 2pm, and attendees can relax around the clubhouse, watch the action on the water and meet club members. The event concludes with tea, biscuits and an informal social gathering, making it an ideal opportunity to discover the club, build confidence in watersports and meet like-minded people in a friendly environment.
