These were fantastic performances on a brilliant (but scorching!🌞) day of competitive athletics with the best young athletes on the island of Ireland.💪🏼

Being able to qualify for the All-Ireland Championships in the first place & performing so well on the national stage is a great reflection of all the hard work & hours of effort & determination that our young people put in every day of the year, and we are really proud of their skills, spirit and sportsmanship. Well done! 🫡💚💙

📅 Save the Date – Saturday 5th September 📅

Six months on from the tragic accident involving our dear friend and colleague, Mrs Lisa McKeever, we are now in a position to support a fundraising effort in aid of the fantastic work carried out by Air Ambulance Northern Ireland.

Please save the date and join Lisa, her friends and family, on Saturday 5th September in The Grange, Armagh. More details will follow in the coming weeks, and we hope to see as many of the Abbey community there as possible as we come together to support this very worthwhile cause.

We would greatly appreciate it if you could share this post far and wide. Together, let’s spread the word and show our support for our girl, Lisa. Every share can help make a difference. 💙🚁

Thank you for your continued support. ❤️

A huge well done to Armagh A.C.'s Upe Spelskaite who ran for the N.Ireland & Ulster Mountain Running Association team in the International WMRA U18 Mountain Running Cup in Gagliano del Capo, Italy, on Sunday! 🇮🇹

A really fantastic performance, achievement and experience for Upe, running against teams from all over the world, from Poland to Mexico, on a boiling hot day on a very tough hilly but beautiful course by the sea! Congratulations Upe! 🥳👏👏😃💚💙

⛰️ Official NIMRA Report by Phil Hodge:
"The Northern Ireland and Ulster U18 team travelled to southern Italy for the 19th edition of the U18 International Mountain Running Cup. Set in Gagliano del Capo, perched between the Adriatic and Ionian Seas, the course offered a very different style of race for world’s best young mountain runners.

Athletes took on a 4.6 km course with 191 meters of ascent, racing along rugged Mediterranean paths with panoramic sea views. This was all the more challenging due to the blistering 30 degree temperatures, not to mention the cruel twist of a last minute climb up and then down a steep canyon AFTER the athletes got sight of the finish line.
Thankfully athletes were able to avail of a quick dip in the sea after their races, which gave them a much welcome respite from the searing mid-day heat.

All of our athletes raced amazingly and did their team, NIMRA, clubs, and families proud. A special mention must go to Abby Smith who achieved a spectacular top 10 finish.

Well done everyone!

Abby Smith 7th
