Tonight I had the pleasure of visiting JDC Angus. Having run a memorial tournament for the Elder family, in memory of Mike for 2 years now. The only stipulation for players who enter is that they must pay a minimum of £1, however they can pay as much as they want above that. The competition took place on Monday and contributions from the 32 players, including the money neither of the Doubles who made the final took, totalled £150 and there was also a donation of £50 from the event venue, Shotz, this gave them a total of £200. After discussion with the Elder family it was decided to donate this money to JDC Angus. Thanks go to Mike's family, Clive Jones, who came to me with the request from Ruth to start an event, and Shotz(Marc Fleming).
Obviously thanks also go out to those that played and donated.
Cheers, Colin.
Finals Day 2025/26
This Saturday 23rd of May sees the seasons finale taking place at The Portcullis.
Looking to get started for 1pm so registration will be from 12pm but the earlier the better. The bar is open from 11am so if anyone wants to come in earlier for some early practice. Would like to have everyone registered for quarter to 1 so we can get the draws done for getting started at 1. Hope to see everyone there.
Cheers Beezer

Thanks to those that came along for the Mike Elder Memorial Doubles, there were 16 Doubles in total, and with overpayments of £105, a very kind donation of £50 from Shotz, as per last year, the winners and runners up donating their prize money of £32 and a bit of rounding up, we managed to raise £200 which will be passed along to Mike's widow Ruth to donate to Charity.
Congratulations to our winners, Scott Taylor and Martin Coull, who overcame Kyale Ross and Bob Beattie 3-2 in the Final.
Cheers, Colin
I will be at Shotz from 6:45 tonight to start taking entries, looking to have pairs drawn and event started by as near to 8 as possible
Colin
This season has almost come to a close, and all the Cups and Leagues are complete as well as the qualifiers. So tonight the Mike Elder Memorial Doubles will take place in Shotz. Again this will be your last chance for competitive practice before Finals Day, which will be held on Saturday 23rd May.
It will be the same format as before, Seeded Blind Doubles, the top 5 teams in the Premier League shall make up the seeds. Last year, the winning double and runner up, put their money to Lindsay Elder's charity cause, it was £1 per player to enter, however, I stated that players could pay what they wanted above that and the excess, as it turned out all money, went to charity. As per last year, any former team mates of Mike who no longer play are welcome to come and enter.
I am quite happy for this to be the format this year as well, anyone with any input ss to whether this is a good idea or not, please comment below.
Cheers, Colin
