U6-U12 TIGERS: STAR PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Hope everyone had a great time at the welcome morning today.

The first star players of the new season are the impressive Willow, Edward, Rose, Harper, Cole, Alexander and Thomas

Well done to all.

The mighty U6-U12 Tigers are back training next Sunday. 10am to 11am up at Violetbank, DG12 5NY

New players always welcome.

Training has started for all age groups at Annan Rugby

All up at Violetbank, DG12 5NY, unless stated.

U17 & older Men and Women - Tuesday and Thursday, 7pm to 8.30pm.

Note: U17-U18 Girls will train at different venues each Tuesday. This week they are at Stewartry Rugby. 7pm to 8.30pm

U13-U16 Boys - Thursday, 6.30pm to 8pm

U13-U16 Girls - Wednesday, 6.30pm to 8pm

U6-12 Boys & Girls - Sunday, 10am to 11am

No rugby experience needed.

New and returning players most welcome.

All welcome for some chat, training and bacon butties!

While later on at 2pm, it's Team Gold v Team Black as the Warriors have an internal squad match.

TALE OF TWO HALVES FOR THE 1ST XV

The 1st XV welcomed Carrick to Violetbank this afternoon for the first match of the West 1 league

To keep it short, it was 21-0 to the visitors at half-time.

3 converted tries on the 10th and 25th minutes, and just before half-time.

Annan had numerous chances but did not take any. Carrick were far more ruthless taking theirs.

Into the 2nd half and Carrick scored their 4th converted try in the 50th minute. Game over?

Annan finally got onto the scoreboard a few minutes later when Bradley James weaved his way through the Carrick defence to score. Josh Whiteside converted and twas 7-28

And it got a bit better as 5 minutes later Aaron Carmichel crashed over. Converted by Josh and 14-28.

Game on?

It certainly was, when with 15 minutes left, it was the black and yellow again who scored. Ben Latimer with the 5 points. Josh converted. 21-28

With 10 to go, Carrick finally got onto the score sheet again - with 2 quick penalties. 21-34

Time was running out but a possible 2 points would still be up for grabs if the lads could have the last say on the match.

With 5 to go, the lads got their 4th try, as James Kirby intercepted and crossed over. Josh with the conversion and 28-34

Unfortunately, just before full time, Carrick kicked their 3rd pen and it ended 28-37

1 try bonus point from the lads, but they will be thinking it could have been a lot more.

A great 2nd half performance, but next time - let's not let the opposition score 28 points before turning on the rugby! :)

Congrats to Carrick, who will be aiming to do one better than last season

A lot of positives from the match, especially the much-improved 2nd-half performance, but also a lot to work on for the coaches before next week's away trip to Oban.

Onto the next one!
